How does one tidy up a #day of #snowboarding? with a bottle of #pinotnoir from #japan of course. scents of tilled, damp soil, freshly scattered mulch, broken brambles, & slivers of pata negra follow thru on a palate highlighted by memory evoking flavours of pleasingly tart, just picked red huckleberries while traipsing thru a temperate #rainforest in Southeastern Alaska. the #vino is an unusual #chardonnay from #japan in northern #nagano near the #ski resort of #nozawa onsen. why unusual? well, it has a fairly neutral nose, with just a whisper of green apple & a splash of salty sea spray. On the palate, that saline character is omnipresent & combines with the bright #acidity to create a very pleasing textural experience. At just 12% abv & only ¥1550/bt, it's a totally "gulpable" bit of salubrious #booze both for head & wallet. — 9 years ago

Medium Dark amber unctiousness. So pleasant; apricot with peach weight decadence meets drizzled caramel and baked apple that brings pine forest fire sharply, hot and precise, before grilled yellow peppers and lava salt unfold to daffodil delicate and ethereal. Nose of golden tears. You drink in acanthus long before your sip; gum Arabic, hot orange honey and graphite. Mocha tobacco, bourbon barrel aged grappa, smoke of charred pit pig fat, roasted Tabasco pepper, and cinnamon oil and green olive grapple over cracked black pepper, anise seed, lavender oil, oregano oil and charred orange peel. Disturbs the mind in its swing from darkness to light, from life to death and finally rebirth.
