Nicely aromatic with plush dark fruit (blackberries, black currants) with a dash of cassis and a gravelly undertone. After some time fresh black currant leaf emerges and some cedar wood. Enticing.
Lovely mouthfeel, layered, juicy, with creamy black fruit and plush, juicy tannins that have not fully mellowed yet.
Somewhere between the austere protestant claret the more seductive Tuscan Bordeaux blends.
Beautifully balanced, was surprised this is 15% alc as it drinks like spring water.
A lovely steak-frites accompaniment.
Need to get more as the price value is brilliant. — a year ago
Translucent red rose petal glinting star bright. Raspberries and violets, carnations and St. John’s wort, wisps of fungi, live tobacco. Palate floral with rose again and lightest cedar note playing into dried raspberry and tarragon. Pointy acid offering notes of cranberry and pepper with a neatly rolled singularity of purpose. Green and young at this stage, but will unravel to enormous depth.

Star bright burnished yellow gold with persistent tiny bubbles and a rapidly dissipating mousse. Abundant nose ("Can I just smell this?" asked my dining partner) of ripe pear and airborne ash. Medium palate is crisp (medium plus acidity) and confirms the nose adding fresh apricot and royal Anne cherry, the latter particularly assertive back palate and on the moderate finish. Pommery's tete du cuvée is on point as always, and this vintage isn't showing its age yet. Complexity to complement almost any cuisine but still in range for that special toast. Drink now through 2030 or so. — a year ago
