Top Notes For
Sipping Fine Wine

Blend of 69% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 1% Petit Verdot, deep Ruby color with aromas of berry fruit aromas and herb tobacco notes. On the palate flavors of black cherry and prunes, currant-like, with tobacco, cacao and cedar notes. Fine chewy tannins, long finish ending with fruit, earth and spicy mineral tones, starting to drink well.

2019 vintage. Previously known as Château Capbern Gasqueton, but after the death of the last Gasqueton, the estate was sold (together with Calon-Ségur) to the French insurance company Suravenir. This 2019 Saint-Estèphe features a dark red colour with a purplish rim and an attractive perfume of blackberry, cassis , slightly smoked cedar wood and a hint of pepper. Concentrated layered black fruit, with fresh acidity that perfectly balances the surprisingly high alcohol (15% abv.). Terrific value at around 20 euros.

Nicely aromatic with plush dark fruit (blackberries, black currants) with a dash of cassis and a gravelly undertone. After some time fresh black currant leaf emerges and some cedar wood. Enticing.
Lovely mouthfeel, layered, juicy, with creamy black fruit and plush, juicy tannins that have not fully mellowed yet.
Somewhere between the austere protestant claret the more seductive Tuscan Bordeaux blends.
Beautifully balanced, was surprised this is 15% alc as it drinks like spring water.
A lovely steak-frites accompaniment.
Need to get more as the price value is brilliant.

Very different from all the other primeur wines today. Iodine, roasted nuts, spices. Seems already evolved.
Great wine for the price though.
