Washington State Cabernet Sauvignon

Quilceda Creek

Galitzine Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

2016 vintage. Decanted and tasted after 45 minutes and 1.5 hours. A little sed. Light-medium/medium body. Definitely not flashy. More on the lean and mean side of the ledger but not completely without hints of love hitherto. Built for the long haul. 9.4.26. — 15 days ago

Hedges Family Estate

Red Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon Blend

Dark ruby in color with a reddish/brick rim.

Showing its age on the nose and full in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with cherries, plums, black currants, coffee, oak, cloves, earth, tobacco leaf, herbs, black tea and black pepper.

Nice length on the finish with round tannins and tangy cherries.

This is a very tasty Cabernet Sauvignon from Red Mountain in Washington State. Elegant and earthy with chocolate notes.

This Single Vineyard Cabernet is complex with a soft mouthfeel, and feels much older than its age.

Good right out of the bottle, and good by itself or with food. I paired it with a charcuterie board of meats and cheeses.

100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes were aged in all new French oak barrels for 22 months. A small production of only 5 barrels.

14% alcohol by volume.

91 points.

Borne of Fire

The Burn Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2022

Clear, deep ruby in color; on the nose, it's clean with medium intensity primary and secondary aromas of blackberries, cassis, and graphite; on the palate, it's dry with high acidity, high tannins, high alcohol, full body, and pronounced primary and secondary flavors of black cherries, blueberries, black cardamom and bell pepper with a long finish. This wine is complex and intense. Overall, I rate this wine as very good. — 7 months ago

State Ranch Yountville Cabernet Sauvignon 2022

Fruity beginning that opens up to a peppery finish. Very smooth. A bit over priced at $109. Didn’t see the complexity at that price point. — 7 months ago

CVR Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Blend

Very good vintage but seems a bit off. More fruit forward than expected. May need time in cellar. @home as part of a new world bordeaux blend wine blind tasting. — 6 days ago

Strong red blend and gentle tannins for not a lot of age, and for WA state for that matter. Was busy discussing business while drinking this so copying web tasting notes: “blackberry, marionberry, cassis, dried herbs, olive tapenade, cedar, vanilla, and coffee.” — 5 months ago

Walla Walla Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

It is time for my #FridayCabernetfix.

Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.

Strong nose of black fruits with light cedar, vanilla, licorice, chocolates, cola, herbs and spices.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with blackberries, black currants, black plums, cedar, tobacco leaf, light earth, coffee, herbs, dark chocolates, black tea, peppercorn and cola.

Long finish with no tannins and tangy cherries.

This is a delicious 10-year-old Cabernet Sauvignon from Walla Walla Valley. Rich and fruit forward. Complex and nicely balanced.

Good right out of the bottle and didn't evolve much with air, even after after 2 hours.

Wine Enthusiasts 90 points.

I had this vintage 7 years ago, and it is so much better now. Probably a little past its peak, but delicious nonetheless. A little flat at this point, but very tasty. I love these Cabernet based Bordeaux blends.

Easy drinking and a great sipping wine.

A blend of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc, 4% Malbec and 1% Petit Verdot. Aged in (28% new) French Oak barrels.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

92 points.

$45 (current vintage).
