Nose is like a gingerbread house. Honey, mineral, spice, orange flowers and so much more. So hard to identify aromas on this wine as it’s so unique, nuanced and complex. Stunningly pure, balanced and waxey with a no joke structure, purity and sap. Lovely mouth-coating tannins and so much yellow fruit/marzipan fruit complexity. Now it has iodine and hazelnut on the nose which is reminiscent of Puligny. Wow. So young but so much going on. Amazing concentration and depth. Enormous potential. One of my most favorites since the legendary 98.
After a few hours of air this has more dried honey on the nose and amazing elegance on the palate. Vibrant and refined. What a great wine. — 4 years ago

Musty, pungent notes of mushrooms, still some fruit. Drinking well @ 16 years. peppers on front palate, mildly acidic finish, soft tannins — 6 years ago
Big words: best red wine PM has ever made. So joyous and energetic! The kind of wine that takes you out of conversation to remark on how delicious the wine tastes at every sip! Light sparkly texture is right up my alley personally. Lovely tart fruit and some forest notes. I would find it hard to grow tired of this wine, could drink a bottle every day. — 8 years ago
This is a big wine full of big contradictions. First of all, was not expecting a dark golden, almost orange hue. Had to look it up and was surprised by an SB with intense skin and malo aging. A pungent, sour nose. It’s not at all a turn off, the opposite really. At the front I get a brine, salt water character but that quickly turns into a giant sour apricot with a long lingering finish that transitions into unripe banana and spicy herbs. Medium to full body with loads of puckering acid. A unique and wildly different wine. — 8 years ago
Soft silky tannins and luxurious finish with Asian food — 5 months ago

Gorgeous wine from the 2000 vintage. Bright and vibrant but also full of savory, saline earthiness. Black and green olive, white truffle, dried fig, raspberry liqueur, black currant, orange pekoe tea, wet stone minerality, baking cocoa, black licorice, fresh earth, forest floor. Soft and supple, like velvet on the tongue. Mellow tannins that finish with a peppery note and surprisingly lively acidity. This can keep going for a while but I’m glad we opened it today. — 6 years ago
Delicious and easy to drink. A LITER! Strawberries and great color! — 7 years ago
Smells like Trix cereal in the best way possible, a delicious unique white from one of my favorite wine makers. — 8 years ago
Awesome and got better with time. — 8 years ago
How does this marry oxidation and freshness and tension so seamlessly? Compelling. Better warmer, and best with food. You could have this as an apero, but there's more to be discovered as it finds its place at the table. Hard to believe this is almost all Chardonnay. Unique. — 8 years ago

So...I had a birthday a couple weeks back.and due to scheduling, my regular bottle finishing team wasn't available until now, so we're finally doing it up in my grand, unique style.
Notes possibly tomorrow, scores honestly tonight.
Decanted 6H.
24-Hour Update:
Nose has crushed bricks, blood orange, ripe cherries, cranberry sauce and wet vines.
Palate has dried cranberry (unsweetened), chalk, orange zest, black currant and dried blackberry.
Seems a little shutdown, revisit 2023+. — 5 years ago
From a lieu dit surrounded by Gevrey. Definitely young but with a couple hour decant quite enjoyable and accessible. Tons of sweet cherry on the nose; aromatically really quite intense. Full on the palate, get more tannin than I was expecting, but very nicely balanced by a lot of acid. Enjoyed it with a roast chicken provencal but could have stood up to red meat too. Nice qpr at ~$30. Note this is not the “cuvee unique”, which apparently a 100% new oak bottling - this is the regular which is 85% old. — 6 years ago
One of the best Sauvignon Blanc’s I have had — 8 years ago

2016. Really great wine. A bit young and will be great in 5+ years. Earthy woodsy nose, medium body, some dark fruit with mineral. Decant for at least 1 hour. — 8 years ago
