I’ve had this vintage several times over the last few yrs. I had it two yrs ago w/ Andy Beckstoffer & Tor Kenward. This is the weakest link I’ve had. It simply lacked the proper storage of the previous bottles I’ve had.

The color is still dark and the fruit is still intact. But this bottle has just started its plum, date, dark raisin and fig stage. Let me say again…just.

This is 13% ABV…love it. As I do with many 80’s Napa & Bordeaux’s. It does get better with each coldish coravined sip.

The tannins are well resolved and there is complete integration & evolution. Ripe, juicy; blackberries, black raspberries, dark cherries, dark spiced strawberries & circling raspberries. Potpourri, baking spice delight-soft clove, nutmeg, cinnamon stick & vanilla, understated caramel, dark chocolate baking bar to chocolate pudding, milk chocolate, moist herbs, hints of mushrooms, saline, dry soil/limestone powder, forest floor with leaves, used tobacco & leather, gentle graphite, moist clay, dark spice w/ mid palate heat, withering dark, red flowers, violets & lavender, round, rainfall acidity with a well balanced, elegant finish that lasts 90 seconds and long sets on earth & spices. — 3 hours ago

2023 vintage. FLB jetsam. Decanted and tasted after 30 minutes and 1 hour. Medium/medium-heavy body. Dark color. Round impressions. Pleasant berry escapades on the back end with spritzes of rhubarb. This was waay too young and could definitely use 2-3 years to dump the baby fat and reapply. Nicely made. Just needs more time to reveal all the wonders within. 6.26.26. — 3 months ago

2020 vintage. 375 ml bottle. Tasted after 30 minutes open. Medium body. Some ripeness buttressed by remaining acidity. Had picked up 5 cases of this 2.75 years ago with a dearth of white Burgundy half bottles due to the truncated 2021 and 2022 vintages. Down to a case. Not a fave producer but they often deliver in the absence of other, potential offerings. Showing well currently. 5.31.26. — 4 months ago

Crisp and mineral with citrus, green apple and white flower. Bright acidity and a long, clean finish. Had at Dunbar House with a local organic greens salad with fresh blueberries, goat cheese, and toasted sunflower hearts. — 2 months ago

1973 vintage. Okay fill. Opened with a Durand. Cork 80% saturated. Musty, hot, slightly “raisined” nose. Light medium body. Drank more like a Burgundy at this stage of life. Amplifying savory aspects currently. Definitely instructive and an absolute blast to hit the FLB (Friday Lunch Bunch) with. These formative, ancient Napa Cabs always so revealing, primal and archival. The 1973 cork a little longer than those short stuff 1968 and 1969 ones. 6.12.26. — 3 months ago

Medium deep garnet ruby with a narrow garnet rim . Dusty grafite , cedar and cassis , currants , oyster shell , quite deep and classic . On the palate this is quite dense and tannic still , deep dark cassis , herbal tinged cedar and very grafite tinged on the finish . Fresh acidity , but still good mid palate richness and even though the tannins are quite dry and grippy , this is well balanced and relatively generous . Good length on the classic grafite , oyster shell tinged finish. This didn’t need a lot of decanting time to show well , though it certainly changes and improves with time in the glass . Classic in style , but still quite generous for Latour , this is just reaching its drinking window , will continue at this level for another 5-10 years at least and probably more. — 2 months ago

Just beginning to hit it’s stride! Still a little strong on the front. Dense fruit with a lot of oak. As the evening progressed it opened up nicely with plum, blackberry and cherry. Oak smoothed out to earthy undertones, smoother on the end. Will develop nicely over the next few years. — 3 months ago

2015 vintage. Tasted the 2023 version two days ago (9.4). Massive fruit and acidity and built for the long haul. So too, was this effort. Decanted and tasted after an hour at approx 62 degrees. Medium-heavy body. Golden ripeness harnessed by governing acidity. Hovers in this state for another 4-5 years before descending to a different stratum. 3.20.26 — 6 months ago
