The Lone Fig

Jordan Vineyard & Winery

Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

When I’m not drinking a Napa Cab, I reach for a Jordon. Blend of 80% Cab Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 8% Petit Verdot & 2% Malbec, aged 13 months in 100% French oak (35% new). Deep Ruby with aromas of red fruit, floral and an array of herb spices. On the palate flavors of cherry, blackberry and fig with oak, vanilla spice, leather and cacao notes. Rich fine tannins, well balanced and integrated with fruit and oak. Very Nice! Will age well. Just had this with a fillet mignon, Nice! — 4 months ago

Monte Bello Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2020

Wonderful wine. One of my favorite vineyards. This is always a high quality wine. This one is still young but getting its legs. Vibrant and fresh if not yet rounded out. There is complexity that will only build. The length is good now but I know will be significantly longer in near term. Cherry. Fig. Eucalyptus. Loved this wine. Looking forward to sampling the next few I have over ensuing decade. — 8 months ago

Very good but somehow not as great as I remembered. Maybe what we drank before tainted it. Maybe it went a little long in bottle. — 5 months ago

Château Mouton Rothschild

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend

A surprise addition of the night. A great blend, about 75% Cab, 14% merlot with CF and PV filling in the remainder. Plum, blackberry and fig show through nicely. Touches of vanilla. — 2 years ago

Domaine Coillot

La Charme aux Prêtres Marsannay Pinot Noir 2017

Established in the village of Marsannay in the 1960's by Bernard Coillot, father of owner Christophe Coillot. Deep Ruby red color with aromas of ripe berry fruit and spice. On the palate flavors of ripe cherry and blackberry with notes of fig, mushroom and spice. Fine soft tannins, long finish ending with fruit, spice and earthy mineral character. Very Nice! — 6 months ago

So pretty outstanding for the $22 I paid. Clocking in at Napa-level 15.5% ABV, you can nonetheless discern the soil and fig notes. Beefy, satisfying wine at great CBR. From Lower Falls WS. — 6 months ago
