The Lone Fig

Broc Cellars

Lone Pine Vineyard El Dorado Lagrein 2023

New grape for me, and new Broc for me. Love it! The nose is a bit green and underripe, but the fruit is amazing. Red currant, raspberry, black cherry, some strawberry, but damp and dark, then it turns dry. Great balance of fruitiness and dryness towards the end. Some tannins on the finish and subtly herbal, but not much. Pure dry fruit for quite a while. Comforting winter red. Lovely label. With pizza.

As with other Brocs, this doesn’t hold up so much on the second day. Drink fresh.

Very good but somehow not as great as I remembered. Maybe what we drank before tainted it. Maybe it went a little long in bottle. — 7 months ago

Ca' del Laito Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore Corvina Blend 2018

So pretty outstanding for the $22 I paid. Clocking in at Napa-level 15.5% ABV, you can nonetheless discern the soil and fig notes. Beefy, satisfying wine at great CBR. From Lower Falls WS. — 9 months ago

Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2022

A little thin on top of dry. Drinkable. Not spectacular.
Especially for $26.

Château Duhart Milon

Pauillac Cabernet Sauvignon - Merlot Blend 2019

On the nose and palate are notes of blackcurrant, crème de cassis, plum, purple fig, dark chocolate covered cherry, black licorice, anise, fennel, clove, nutmeg, cedar wood, cardamom, pencil shavings, graphite, leather, pipe tobacco, cigar, forest floor.

It’s dry with velvety tannins, medium (+) acidity, a medium body, and medium alcohol (13.5% ABV) and a persistent finish. It’s balanced and complex with depth and dimension. It’s providing warmth and deliciousness on this chilly winter night. Cheers!

Jordan Vineyard & Winery

Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

When I’m not drinking a Napa Cab, I reach for a Jordon. Blend of 80% Cab Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 8% Petit Verdot & 2% Malbec, aged 13 months in 100% French oak (35% new). Deep Ruby with aromas of red fruit, floral and an array of herb spices. On the palate flavors of cherry, blackberry and fig with oak, vanilla spice, leather and cacao notes. Rich fine tannins, well balanced and integrated with fruit and oak. Very Nice! Will age well. Just had this with a fillet mignon, Nice! — 7 months ago

Established in the village of Marsannay in the 1960's by Bernard Coillot, father of owner Christophe Coillot. Deep Ruby red color with aromas of ripe berry fruit and spice. On the palate flavors of ripe cherry and blackberry with notes of fig, mushroom and spice. Fine soft tannins, long finish ending with fruit, spice and earthy mineral character.
