La Cuadrilla Ballard Canyon Syrah Blend 2023

2023 vintage. Medium/medium-heavy body. Fruit. Tannins. Drinkability, balance and structure. Decidedly delicious and something for everyone. OMG...pair this with anything from veggie skewers to land-based proteins to darker-fleshed fish (Mahi, Tuna, Sword) and thicker, oily, succulent white-fleshed fish such as Patagonian Toothfish...err...Chilean Sea Bass and Al(askan) Hal(but). Wouldn't age it for a decade but for crushing in the next 4-5 years...approval from the Kool-Aid Man. "Oh Yeah!" 7.8.26. — 6 days ago

@Scott@Mister A’s-San Diego, ditto @Tom Casagrande’s comment!! Plus, isn’t this the wine where the profits go to their workers??

@Doug Powers You are correct about the profits. Pretty cool. Wish we saw more wines such as that. Perhaps it becomes a trend.

@Scott@Mister A’s-San Diego, when I saw this wine (earlier vintage than your post here), I thought to myself I don’t need any more wine, but the worker profits issue sold me, and the fact the wine was excellent and reasonably priced made me a fan!!!

Combe Ballard Canyon Trousseau 2022

Light garnet color. Very interesting nose and palate of red fruits, rose petals, dried herbs, black tea, bergamot and sweet baking spices. Hint of eucalyptus on the long, complex and earthy finish. Smooth tannins. Lively, bright and very well balanced. Nice concentration for a light bodied wine. Excellent! — 2 years ago

Combe Ballard Canyon Chenin Blanc 2018

Classic chenin. Beeswax and non-oak smoke . Zip lining acid that goes really well with shrimp pad Thai but not with double chocolate chip cookies 😂. Green papaya. There is a little bit of ripe tropical fruit but it’s still such a direct wine — 5 years ago
