Grossheppacher Steingrüble Chardonnay 2019
Nice expressive nose full of ripe yellow exotic fruit with underripe pineapple, ripe lemons, yellow pears with some very decent woody character noticeable and a hint of toasted sesame reduction.
Quite round & elegant and very inviting.
The wow happens after the first sip.
Wonderful flow on the palate with juicy acidity. So precise with a cool mineral core and the fruit filling the background. This has depth, energy & focus and just a hint of tannin edginess. Pure yet not puristic.
This is absolutely delightful! Clearly not Burgundy and yet this is one of the very best Chardonnay’s I’ve had in quite some time. What a find!! — 4 years ago

The 2023 Kuentz-Bas Riesling is an example of what me truly fall in love with this entire style of Alsatian wine. A soft hue of chartreuse meets the eye, and does not lie. After a bit of a breathe the nose is lush and grassy in all the right ways. The palate is where it shines, bringing oodles of wet stone, delightfully gum-soaking minerality, and a finish that defines this style of Riesling. This is in the top three when we pair it with anything spicy- particularly creole- but any spice will do.
