Great day of tasting in Oregon’s Willamette Valley 😋 — 2 years ago
Another spot on wine from Morgan, I love the back label story about his grandmother passing along the love of wine in their family. Grenache is so much about how it is grown, and the sourcing for this wine delivers great fruit. The winemaking is restrained which lets the fruit shine thru. Sky and Vine – Cabernet Sauvignon 2022
Sonoma – California, USA 🇺🇸
Winemaker: S.R. Tonella
Overview
Best known for his work with Rutherford Bench Cabernets in Napa, Steve Tonella brings that same craftsmanship to Sonoma with Sky and Vine. While Napa showcases power and structure, Sonoma offers a softer, more plush expression — and Tonella captures that balance beautifully in this approachable, entry-level bottling.
Aromas & Flavors
Juicy black cherry, plum, and cassis framed by gentle mocha, vanilla, and baking spice. Subtle violet and dried herb tones add nuance to the ripe fruit core.
Mouthfeel
Medium-bodied with silky tannins and rounded edges. Plush and velvety, finishing smooth and elegant without heaviness.
Food Pairings
A versatile partner for roasted chicken, grilled pork chops, or mushroom risotto. Also complements pasta with tomato-based sauces and a cheese board with Brie or Gouda.
Verdict
A polished yet approachable Sonoma Cabernet that highlights Tonella’s Napa pedigree while embracing Sonoma’s softer style. A true entry-level masterpiece — plush, drinkable, and overdelivering for its category. 🍷 — 20 days ago
