Amazing nose. Mid to late season very ripe cherries, cranberry bog, white chocolate, and some citrus rind. Gorgeous. Spice and violets as well. Palate is rich and tense at the same time with gorgeous sweet cherry fruit and unreal purity and freshness. Super silky and sweet with great acidity and mineral sweet cherry finish. Now with air there is gorgeous blackberry and black raspberry. Unreal red cherries and spice. Really lifted nose. Palate is much redder than the nose lets on and has really engaging minerality. So pure and well made. Almost a 9.5. — 6 months ago
Nose is all mid season red cherries, cherry flower and so so pure. Mulberry, cranberry bog and so much more. Lipstick like intensity and just so focused and clear. Insane nose. Unreal limestone and depth but also it’s like it’s vibrating on its own plain. Wow what a palate. Juicy and structured with just silly good cherry fruit of the early to mid season style and unreal clarity, focus and linearity. Unreal concentration and depth. So stunning and like a squeegee on the palate. Now some violets on the nose and unreal concentration and sorry but light and ethereal. Stunning beyond belief. After air it gets more supple and textured. All red fruit on the palate. — 7 months ago
Still a year or two too young for optimal drinking. Some frisky wood notes are still there.

Palate: early season cherries. More plum as it opens. Some spice. — 4 months ago
Nose is cranberry, spice and mulberry. So different than what Thorle is doing today. Love this style but also love the newer style. What a winery! Some herbs, some limestone aromas and sour cherry. Very complex. Palate is energetic and to be honest a bit of an herbal streak that I love but others might not. No green from 18 on for this bottling. I am betting it goes away with air. Palate is lush and energetic with terrific purity and depth. Good freshness and depth hut seems thing compared to what they are doing now. Sour and early season cherry fruit and super velvety tannins. Let’s see what happens with air. — 5 months ago
Refreshing, apple notes, light and easy drinking, perfect for a hot patio season. We love it, but prefer a bit more mineral finish. 9 for Vika, in the 8s for Gio — 7 months ago
Age that Fruh! At 10 this is really coming into its own Gorgeous nose of wet earth, spice and desiccated leaves and tree bark. An interesting citrus note as well. So expressive. Just a stunning nose. The fierce tannins of this have calmed down and it’s an ultra silky and has superb concentration and awesome mid season cherry fruit and some blackberry overtones. Sweet tannins and exceptional length. Air is always this wine’s friend. — 8 months ago
My 2nd bottle of the 2003 and wow this is a stunner. Warmer vintages in cooler wine regions is where it’s at. Glorious nose of mid season cherry, sour cherry and more! Smoke, tar, tobacco, cigar box. Unreal minerality and a distinctive earthiness. Just gorgeous. So expansive and detailed. Palate is so so juicy and fresh with unreal acidity that buffets the incomprehensible juicy cherry and meaty fruit. Getting Gevrey vibes here. Amazing purity and freshness and just super clean. Opulent with so much energy and depth. Really covers the inner mouth with so much sexy fruit. The sexiest one yet but still has the house style. I’ve never had a wine where a warm vintage has elevated it this much. Genius and stunning. Nose starts with some oolong tea now after air. Palate has mid season juicy cherries that are in such abundance. It’s so well made, so balanced and just off the charts pure with velvety and sweet tannins and just such insane fruit capture. — 5 months ago
Gifted this bottle at bottling by the winemaker himself, and also helped with the label copywriting for this and the 2012 vintage. 12 years to payoff and not disappointed in the slightest! All the elements I love about my friend who made it - bold, sassy, centered, and vibrant! — 6 months ago
Wow. Like wow. OMG this nose. Just the most vivid and deep early season cherry ever. Beautiful. So high pitched. Incredible. Cherry flower, spice and huge tar. Like wow. I am bowled over. Unreal florals as well. Just so much. Too much is not enough can describe this nose. 9.8 nose. Glorious palate of pure, classic, old school Nebbiolo done the Barbari way. Ultra refined and unreal sweetness of fruit and balance. Like the most explosive cherry ever and then a gentle mineral wash. Just perfect Langhe Nebbiolo. Out of this world. The fruit presence on this is just beyond. So much clarity. Unreal sweetness like only Nebbiolo can do. Not that complex but the delicious factor is better than any Langhe Nebbiolo I have ever had. The energy on the midpalate and finish are just electric yet run like refined gears on your palate. A wine that changes minute by minute. The nose had dizzying rose florals right now and deep minerals and just glorious spice. Now the finesse is kicking in and the tannins are becoming more substantial but the fruit remains sweet and the tannins velvety. Big time cuban tobacco on the nose now. It’s just divine. — 7 months ago

Stunning aromas of mid season cherry, some malted milk balls, gorgeous earth aromas and a firm mineral background. Really lovely pointed spice as well. Really expansive and so crystalline as 19 can be. So opulent in the mid palate but also allied with terrific energy and freshness. Luscious cherry fruit with great tang and chewiness Long, winding finish with even a bit of citrus Really gets to every nook and cranny. Superb stuff. Wow. — a month ago
