2013 J. Schram Blancs - 87% Chardonnay, 13% Pinot Noir. Schram Blancs are aged for 8 years on the yeast in their historic Diamond Mountain caves. This wine can be served as an aperitif or enjoyed with food. Definitely some toasty brioche and lemon curd happening. Easy to smile about this one when it gives you fantastic zippy acidity and elegance, both at the same time.
Who knew I would enjoy champagne and sparkling wines this much?! Oh has my palate evolved.

I love bringing out things like this because I like to hear what people think. Tasted blind at a table of five. Asked for origin and, if brazen enough, producer. One person admitted their sparkling palate was not good enough, 2 including myself already knew what this was, the other did not guess but consumed his glass rather quickly and even refilled. The only person who was bold enough guessed J Schram. So, I give you J Schram at 60% off! Smaller bubbles, hint of nuttiness, green apple at first that settles to a honeydew melon. Finishes with a little bit of tart, a little bit of acidity, and a little bit of dryness. Very crisp. Couldn't hold a candle to France's best? No way, but this is not the intent. One of my secret weapons to very inexpensive sparklers that do the job extremely well. — 8 years ago

2006 was much more fruit forward but this was subtle and very drinkable. Went down too easy... — 9 years ago

Super yummy. Awesome sparkling wine using Pinot Noir grapes. Cellared by Schramsberg for 8+ years. February 2023. — 3 years ago
Minor leagues compared to the J Schram or the Billecarte but nothing stopped the two of us from polishing off this magnum on Friday night. No regrets come Saturday morning. — 7 years ago
This is the 2012 Champagne Blanc de Noir. Very similar to the Blanc de Blanc except with notes of citrus and doesn't have the bite. It's the 2012 Vintage and a bit smoother. I really liked it better than the Blanc de Blanc Shramsberg Champagne. This is a Champagne as the grapes although Napa Valley the method is FRENCH brought by the FRENCH to Schramsberg when they came to Cali in the early 1930's. Schramsberg's history dates back to the 19th century, when German immigrant Jacob Schram first made his home and started his winery on Diamond Mountain. Over one hundred years later Jack and Jamie Davies would restore the Schramsberg estate in 1965 bringing with them the French method for Champagne — 9 years ago
Smooth finish. Strong fruit flavor, very good. — 9 years ago
Popped and poured. This is actually 86% Chardonnay with Pinot Noir making up the balance. Despite the same 8-year tirage as the “Noirs”, this comes across quite a bit fresher with less of the funky oxidative notes and more of the richer, rounded fruit. White peach, lemon meringue, brioche and minerals. Very nice indeed. — 3 years ago
Really pleasant and strong tertiary flavors. Well balanced with lots of caramel notes — 7 years ago
Compared to a 2004 J Schram, this one had more bubbles but seemed to have a little less fruit complexity. The J Schram is a 95, and I believe this one is probably 91 to 92. Lighter notes for sure. Mango, honeydew and a hint of kiwi. As I said, very good bubbles on this one. Finished dry, made you want to take another sip, so mission accomplished. I'm a little ignorant on the bubbles side of things, but I know a good sparkler when I see one. This one was there, but found myself going back to the J Schram. — 9 years ago

This isn't the orange wine but a predominantly gruner veltliner 70%,Saint laurent, merlot, rosler. It's a zero zero wine nothing added or taken. Liking the results better on the 2nd day. Savory & sassy it has zip & is not a fruit bomb. — 4 months ago
