Jacques Selosse

Initial Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Champagne Chardonnay

Wonderful nose, toasted almond, sherry, lemon, ripe pear. Oxidation is just right- not overwhelming, but adds to complexity and character. Slightly orange color, full bodied. Would love to know actual alcohol, label says 11-14%, but tears indicated higher alcohol, but very well balanced. Disgorged 14 November 2019. — 5 months ago

Moss Wood

Moss Wood Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2010

Had this Margaret River icon on Christmas Eve with a nice grass fed Rib Fillet. A dusty blackberry nose. Not as herbal as the usual Moss Wood Cabernet. Full bodied from a good year with a long long future. Huon Hooke says to 2040. More reminiscent of a Cabernet from the eastern states in flavour profile. My first of 6. Should have the next in 4 or 5 years. — 3 years ago

Matthews Cellars

Blackboard Red Wine Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2017

Best ever Blackboard!!! Fragrant nose with dark berries on the palette; nothing you’d expect at this price point. A relatively full-bodied wine with a hint of chocolate says it all. — 5 years ago

Tastes like perfectly ripe berries. Aroma is best in a Claret glass.

Arcanum

Toscana Cabernet Franc Blend

Craig bought a bottle for parents weekend. Rhonda says it is very good. But probably not worth the price. — 7 months ago

Block Nine

Caiden's Vineyards Pinot Noir 2019

WS says value buy, and it’s on the money. Nice red fruit and floral upfront. Medium body with silky finish. $13-$14 price makes this Pinot an everyday wine. — 3 years ago

Domaine Ramonet

Bienvenue Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru Chardonnay 1990

The third in a string of white burgs all acquired from the Don Stott Sotheby auctions. This was notably darker than the previous two bottles. Some oxidation on the nose, with notes of candied lemon, brown sugar and some iodine. With air, there's some desirable citrus and leesy notes that come on. And while the oxidative note in the nose is noticeable, when you taste the wine you are hit with a ton of acidity that says this bottle is in no way over the hill. In fact as the wine took on more air, the nose took on typical old Ramonet notes including the mint and wet stones attributes. The acidity and power lasted for about an hour and then some decline happened. Pretty damn good juice and on other nights this probably would have been the favorite white. Château Latour

Premier Grand Cru Classé Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 1961

My buddy says let’s have a bottle of wine- why not? Then he shows up with the ‘61 latour?! The scene from Wayne’s world came to mind... I’m not worthy!! hands down the best wine I have ever had. It took a solid 90 minutes to open up and when it did- pure joy. I could just sit and smell this wine and be happy. It’s medium bodied with perfect acidity as it hits every part of the palate with dark fruit and mineral/ graphite and the finish is like silk. It’s almost like it just evaporates and lingers and you just want more! As I’m drinking I’m thinking... how do you keep ‘em on the farm once they’ve seen Paris. — 5 years ago

Cooper & Thief Cellarmasters

Bourbon Barrel Aged Cellarmaster Select Red Wine Blend 2017

Nina recommended this bottle to me. The label says dark and jammy with toasty vanilla notes, and I can actually taste all of that. I think I can also taste or smell the bourbon whiskey barrels that it is aged in. Very fruity and delicious but a little sweet for my tastes. — 2 years ago

Corsiero

Nero di Troia 2018

Bear says: Fruity and bright, backed up by a solid savoury structure. Not super heavy tannic, but complex and interesting and happy. Not shy. — 3 years ago

Tenuta San Guido

Bolgheri Sassicaia Cabernet Sauvignon Cabernet Franc 2008

Jesus says this is the bomb. Tar and rose petals on the nose. Red fruit, bit of tobacco and graphite round it out. — 4 years ago
