Emilien Côtes de Francs Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

Corey got a few of these for me for Christmas. Drinking our first bottle now, planning to save the rest for a bit. Gave it 1.5-2 hours of air. Slight cloudiness. Nose is intense with black licorice, wool yarn and blueberries. Fruitiness on the palette is there but emergent earthiness and a hint of mint. It has tart acidity and a mild bitterness that I don’t dislike and subtle barnyard funkiness. Medium tannin. Enjoyable bright long finish. — 4 years ago

Another summer guzzler for $10.00, winery over $20.00 though. More acidity than the Mathis but not as much flavor. Either way both are winners at this price & release price. Save your money for big time cabernets, drink inexpensive Rose

Crafted from 100% Pinot noir, the fruit for our Rosé is intentionally selected with an eye towards cooler sites which retain juicy, vibrant acidity. Stainless steel fermentation to retain the bright, fresh fruit character.

"Ethereal aromatics of magnolia, hibiscus, wild strawberry, jasmine and rainwater blend with slightly savory hints of lemon thyme and white pepper on the nose. The seamless palate of apple (think Envy or Pink Lady), slight honey notes and juicy acidity make this a refreshing, but serious Pinot noir rosé."

Champagne Brut Rosé 2006

Celebrating 5 years with my bride at our usual joint, Wild Olives in Rosemary Beach.

Excellent rosé champagne that my wife & saved for a couple of years. We were planning on drinking it last year for her 30th birthday but since she was pregnant we opted to save it for our 5th anniversary. Very rich and expressive with nice minerality, tangerine, grapefruit, and assorted citrus notes.

Intense without being too much; blackberry, prunes, tart cherry, and pomegranate. Tightly coiled but still offering up a lot of intriguing flavors and aromas. Will probably save our other bottles to see how it develops but not mad that we opened this by any means — 2 years ago

Piggott Range Vineyard Syrah 2006

Pulled from my cellar where is has rested since release. This is a carnival of characters with dark fruit, teriyaki, bacon fat, olive tapenade, moist forest floor, hollowed out decomposing log, leather, coco, and coffee. Tannic still with plenty of acid; the finish is as long as the day. Our assessment, considering the abundant secondary characteristics, that this was on the decline and opening now was a bit of a fortuitous save. And while I don’t disagree that now is the time to drink these wines, Day 2 was noticeable brighter with fresher blue fruits and structure even more pronounced. Overall conclusion, these are far from going dead anytime soon but why wait? This was a fabulous bottle and I’m so pleased we were able to share with a dear friend. — 4 years ago

I actually enjoy this more than the technical score I give it...helps the price point is around $35.

Need to save some of the Davies Estates Chardonnay for more Harbison tomorrow night.

The Laurent Perrier La Cuvée with carry us through the rest of the cheese course. Picks up the dry Lattebusche Piave Vecchio white cheese better than the Davis Estate Chardonnay, as it should! Gives the night both side one & side two of our cheese LP.

I will let my previous notes stand.

On the Lawn at Tanglewood this evening with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, without orchestra or conductor 😉. Three humble souls playing an all BEETHOVEN program (Piano Trio No. 3 in C minor (Opus 1, No. 3) and Symphony No. 2 in D (Opus 36, arr. for piano trio by Beethoven)) with a few of the best players of instruments containing strings, Yo-Yo Ma (cello), Leonidas Kavakos (violin) and Emanuel Ax (piano). A true delight for lovers of Classical music this evening!

Champagne is for celebrating, not that I need a celebratory reason to open a bottle as I am hooked on champagne. 💉

However, after installing 27 solar panels and waiting an additional seven weeks for my Tesla, I/we have almost erased our carbon footprint. Finally picked it up today. I believe we all need to do our part to save the glorious vines that bring so much happiness to our lives. 🍷🥂👍

As for the Baron Fuentes, the is a very good Champange and is perhaps the best QPR out of Champagne at $24.99.

Bright lemon, lime, grapefruit w/ sugar, bruised red apple & pear, touch of ginger & cider, bread dough, baguette crust, sea spray, white spice with some palate heat, sea fossils, grey volcanic minerals, spring flowers, lilacs and yellow lilies. The acidity is bright, crisp and lively. The finish is smartly polished, well balanced and persistent for minutes.

Whoo hoo! So close to carbon free! 🍾🥂
