Brb...En Route to buy another bottle of this — 4 years ago
See previous note from January 2023. Pepper Liquorice and Raspberry. Savoury and full bodied on the palate. Such density despite the drinking window describing this as “Old”. 2011 to 2028. I see this as having many years to go. Riper having blackberry and not as much pepper as you would expect because of this warmer vintage. The vineyards were originally planted in 1964, establishing this as one of Australia’s leaders in cool climate Shiraz. It has always been one of my favourite Australian Reds. Best Shiraz and Wine of the Year for 2011 as voted by the Good Wine Guide. 98 points from Nick Stock. — 10 months ago
Characteristics of mature European wines. Deep, well-developed color and body and a very smooth taste. Very pleased with this wine. — 3 years ago
Drinking beautifully with our short rib. Great bottle and aged just fine. Fruit all there with a lot of elegance — 4 years ago
Found this 2010 Portfolio buried deep in my cellar. Sightly past it’s peak but drinking beautifully. Needs time to open up. Rich and deep with dark cherry, blackberry and spice flavours it paired nicely with a New York Strip roast. A delicious wine from a great vintage — 3 years ago
Interesting that there was a Sonoma bottle AND a Willamette Valley bottle. I tried the Sonoma one and loved it. Hubby said "too juicy," but I thought it was a great summer red. — 3 years ago
Low yield production that’s hard to come by. For anyone that’s visited laughing stock you can appreciate this wine with the unique process of fermentation. Vibrant aromas and deep rich color with a silky palate. Last bottle 😞 — 4 years ago
The 2018 is out! The 2018 is out! On the downside, the price went up $5 to $25. On the plus side this is the best in several vintages so stock up! Lots of lush cherry fruit backed up by tar, mushroom, and leather. Just fantastic. As an aside, this is one of my favorite go-to wines and one of the best values out there each year hands down. But the low ratings just baffle me. Rate the wine quality my friends, not whether the wine is your thing. — 4 years ago
"Odedi"
Deep purple in color with a short reddish rim.
Pretty nose with cedar, vanilla, wild flowers, chocolates, coffee and black pepper.
Dry on the palate with nice complexity.
Showing black fruits with cedar, earth, herbs, black pepper, light vanilla, spices, dark chocolates and tobacco leaf.
Long finish with fine grained tannins and cherries.
This is a tasty red blend from South Africa. Soft and smooth with nice complexity. Nicely balanced with a soft mouthfeel.
Needed 4 hours to open up properly, so be patient.
A blend of 36% Mourvedre, 22% Shiraz, 13% Carignan, 11% Grenache, 9% tannant and 9% Petite Sirah.
14% alcohol by volume.
