1.5 hour decant(decent cloudy/fine sediment). A remarkable dark murky garnet color at 15 years. On the nose: perfumed notes of blackberry, herbaceous, burnt wood, sweet vanilla, leather. Taste: concentrated, layered, balanced mouthcoating wine with dark cherry, cedar, currants, mocha espresso, tobacco, spiced oak, and a earthy-leather long dry finish with just a slight tannic kick....has time to go. YUM!! — 10 months ago
Had this wine 6+ years ago and the improvement has been remarkable. Now showing notes of dark cherry, plum, earth and spice. Tannins completely integrated with a supportive acid spine. Would not have predicted this evolution. Incredibly smooth and layered. — 2 years ago
Decant for sediment and pour(decent chunky/fine sediment). A remarkable murky magenta color with bricking. On the nose: beautiful nose of stewed black fruit/currants, floral, herbaceous, burnt embers, spearment. Taste: classic old school Napa, juicy, balanced, savory wine with dark cherry, baking spice, smoke, sweet tobacco and a nice long earthy cocoa finish. YUM! Drinks well at year 20 and glad to have another bottle. — 9 months ago
1 hour decant(decent fine/cloudy sediment). A remarkable dark purplish magenta color. On the nose: certain vintages really embrace the brett on the property, this is on the milder side. Notes of red plum, nutty vanilla, pine, funky wet earth, old leather, some cherry. Taste: smooth, delicate, silky wine with savory notes of cigar box, currants, wet dirt, peppery, little dark plum, cedar, slightly meaty. YUM! A very good vintage for Cain, a little more intensity could have increased the score even more. — 2 years ago
17+ another proof that Gamay can be very serious indeed. Remarkable nose, complex and expressive. Great fruit, of course, M+ length. Nice on back palate. Finish good, not exceptional. — 5 months ago
Medium lemon yellow , persistent fine perlage . At first quite shy , needs a bit of time to get going . Then buttered pastry , confit lemon and roast nuts , quite bold and rich , just a hint of chalky minerality . On the palate the richer , deeper theme continues , those pastry and buttery notes , confit lemon and a creamy mouthfeel . Long balanced finish , the chalky acidity really helping to cut through richer , mouth filling profile . Coming back to this at the end of the meal , having sat 6 hours in the glass , this still shows remarkable freshness and life. This seems young to me still , certainly has everything for a long life ahead , better in 5 years perhaps and will show well a further 10-15 perhaps . — 7 months ago

My last bottle of the 16 and quite different comments than previous bottles. Loaded with ripe dark cherry. Well balanced but the dark cherry is clearly primary. Tannins were perfectly softened. Medium plus finish. Very good wine but not as remarkable as the last bottle. — 2 months ago
