Lovely. Super mineral and precise. No formal notes. Cooking dinner wine. Really long. Will update tomorrow.
Today it’s super minerally with amazing depth of aroma. Still lean but man does it have breadth. Juicy and clean. Like a Riesling razor. 9.2 to 9.3. Juicy, luscious and lime infused finish. — 4 years ago
Quite chunky and needs time. Purple fruit and garrigue, tons of minerality, almost overwhelmingly so. This needs a few years to rein itself in. Certainly a special wine in the making. Value-wise, it's probably commensurate with the price point, but there's a unique-ness to this that makes the cost somewhat moot - a unicorn wine. — 6 years ago
You had blueberry, caramel, potpourri, plum and cassis on the nose, a gorgeous medley. The palate opening has licorice, espresso and blackberry. There is marvelous concentration here, somewhat emblematic of the vintage, but the supple tannins, and seamless texture, rein in potential excess. You get cedar, tobacco, and fascinating salinity past the mid palate, and its power has graciously mellowed, leaving you with a delectable expression of Petrus prowess. You get sumptuous black plums and sweet tobacco, with a blaze of Pomerol’s essence on the layered, ebullient finish. — 10 years ago

1990 Cheval Blanc 1er Grand Cru Bordeaux. Drank w K at dinner w Rein and Danielle at Tower Bar. Decanted for a good two hours before drinking and it was still funky. We think it's just going thru a funky phase. Was sort of flat with one note and high acid. Interesting to drink this in comparison with the 1999 DRC Vosne Romanee, which was drinking excellently. This year is not at the moment living up to how much we love the wine in general. — 11 years ago
Horse Heaven Hills is located towards the southern end of the Columbia Valley. This esteemed wine region’s south facing slopes provide extended sun and wind exposure. These conditions ripen the grapes to perfection and create thick grape skins which translate to delicious, concentrated flavor in every bottle. This elegant Cabernet Sauvignon has rich blackberry aromas that are a classic representation of the Horse Heaven Hills appellation. The dark berry notes continue on to the palate complemented by hints of vanilla and refined tannins. — 3 years ago
Rein in your horses! Or not! Lovely barnyard-horsey funk. Underripe cherry! Nice acid. Limited tannin. Enjoyable and well priced. — 8 years ago
Very good effort in a PB. I'm curious to know if anyone's had this and the 13 and could compare them. — 10 years ago
Ich mag den Weißen echt. Ehrlich klar und rein. Volle Agave. — 10 years ago

Jasmine still working at the Club? This is clearly intended to portray a Burgundian profile. And it largely succeeds. The Chablis-like nose has wet stony earth and apply fruit. Crisp acids. Minerally flavors. The problem — and this is a problem I see whenever someone in a region with abundant sunshine actively tries to rein in the ripeness by picking early — is that by picking before the time when nature gives you the ripeness IT wants, the wines somehow lack depth and feel a little “clipped.” So, in sum, I like this, but it lacks the depth to be profound. — 8 years ago
The Mosel - a gift to wine lovers everywhere. Another perfect Riesling and although a lot of places make good resiling, there's always something about the German Mosel versions that always rein supreme. Perfect example right here! Dances on the tongue, slightly sweet with a crisp finish. This will make you want to move to Germany! — 10 years ago
2009 vintage. Bright, youthful fruit out the gate. Let this mustang sow its oats for another ten years before you rein him in. — 11 years ago
Vibrant ripe lemon, botrytis saffron and wax, strong clean acidity. Reminiscent of a ripe Austrian Smaragd. My favorite of the #7solution tasting. — 11 years ago
