The Eyrie Vineyards

Trousseau 2017

Damn tasty. Beautiful pale plum color, rose petal, strawberry and mossy earth. Palate is red fruit driven (duh) showing tangy cranberry, pomegranate, cherry, rhubarb, a little sea salt, and some leafy and floral elements on the back. Goes fast and pleases most, and goes great with roasted pumpkin seeds — 3 days ago

Tinto Mosier Hills Tempranillo Syrah 2017

Bought at winery. Garnet red, moderately extracted pigment. Leather, tangerine and red fruit aromas. Oak and cherry flavors, slight seed bitterness, good acid, wood and somewhat gripping acid-skin astringency on finish. Drinkable now, but not sure what additional aging will get you tannin-wise. More wood dominance and less fruit? Balance among the elements now so why wait? Winery tasting notes mention fresh fig (yes, how did I miss that?) petrichor (huh? Turns out I know what this is - smell of dust or dirt after rain first falls on soil, but I didn’t pick this up in the wine) and red currant (close enough). 40/25/25/10 blend of Grenache (tangerine note), Tempranillo, Syrah (cherry) and Mencia, 228 cases produced. If you’ve never heard of Mencia, Analemma or this AVA, you have to check them out! Only one bottle to taste *sigh* Give the wine an hour for the red fruit to come out and develop length, and a better quaff at that — 5 days ago

Antica Terra

Angelicall Pinot Noir Rosé 2013

From terrific wine maker Maggie Harrison, a Rosé like no other. It drinks almost like a natural red Burgundy. It reminded me of Prieure Roch Le Cloud or Sylvain Pataille Marsannay. Good depth to it and nicely textured showing a cool minerality, balanced acidity, cherry bubblegum, mandarin orange and a touch of damp earth and Asian spice. I had it left out and off of ice and treated it like a red. Seemed to be the right move as it becomes more expressive the less cold it is. Super unique wine and happy to have finally tried it! Great stuff. — 4 days ago

@Lee Pitofsky : A favorite “rosé” of mine. Feels weird to call this a rosé based on its structure! I love having this slightly above cellar temp. I had my last 2014 a few months back that seemed to be drinking perfect, so these definitely can age.

Sanford & Benedict Vineyard Pinot Noir 2016

Great Pinot for Cabernet lovers, at only
13.8 ABV. Can’t think of another $30.00 pinot I’d choose over this

Winemaker's Notes: "These grapes were harvested on August 19th and September 3rd at an average of 23.0 brix. The grapes underwent a four-day cold-soak with 1-3 punch downs by hand daily. Once dry, the wine was pressed and put into French oak barrels (15% new) where it stayed for 15 months before being racked and bottled unfiltered in February of 2018."
