Cepparello Toscana Sangiovese 2012

9.7

This was awesome! PnP. Dark red color with subtle maroon tones. Cedar, bramble, and rustic elements on the nose. Smells very high quality. Bramble with subtle earth and tobacco on the palate. Nice complexity with tannins that are integrated with a nice sweetness. I’ll be buying some! — 4 days ago

Tenuta dell'Ornellaia

Le Serre Nuove dell'Ornellaia Bolgheri Rosso Merlot Blend 2021

Opens up with splash of plums, dark cherries, and apple. This is tempered by fig, anise and touch of smoke. There are bitter but light tannins that dominate the final notes. — 4 days ago

Tenuta Sette Ponti

Oreno Toscana Super Tuscan Blend 2019

It’s still too young for me but I wanted to pull one. Medium nose where I get a bit of green-ness. The finish is light and there is a bit of green on the palate as well. Hoping the rest get better with age. — 23 days ago

Even in its youth, I’d expect a better showing than what you experienced. This hailed from a strong vintage in Tuscany. I hope it puts on some weight for you.

Marchesi Antinori

Tignanello Toscana Super Tuscan Blend 2020

Decant and pour. They broke out the Giant glass.....black cherry, leather, tobacco, pepper, dried herbs, cedar, and tannic. Should round out over time. YUM! Super Tuscan tonight to start our Napa weekend...who woulda thunk. — 5 days ago

Ca'Marcanda Promis Toscana Sangiovese Blend 2020

Wine is full bodied, purplish. On nose its violets, black cherries, cheedar, earthy. On palate, its sweet, little spicy, i can taste the brightness from sangiovese buts its more vegal to me. The structure, merlot balanced the syrah so it does mellowed the syrah attack. Long finish, tannic, give it 1 hour decant. Best after 2028.. cheers! 🍷 — 4 days ago

Tenuta Col d'Orcia

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 1975

Vintage 1975 | Perfect balance, enormous rich, best wine tasted this year. Tasted next to Barolo and Rioja, the Brunello impressed me most. What a wine! — 7 days ago

Nice.

Tenuta Il Poggione

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2010

#AgedWineTuesday

Ruby in color with a wide brown/ brick rim.

Medium bodied with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with nice complexity.

Showing black fruits with wood, earth, vegetables, spices, tobacco leaf, bitter herbs and peppercorn.

Nice finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

This 14 year old Brunello lost a lot of its fruits at this point. Soft and elegant. Earthy and better with food.

I paired it with a prosciutto and arugula pizza.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

90 points.

$100.

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2018

2008 vintage. Decanted and tasted after two hours. Medium-heavy body. Juicy introduction with a firm, tannic handshake directly thereafter. Nice first impression of the 2018 tasting now but 3-5 years from now likely leads to a better opinion. 4.26.24. — 11 days ago

Fattoria di Fèlsina Berardenga

Fontalloro Toscana Sangiovese 1997

On the early side of peak. Really beautiful bottle, great condition. Skews more towards red fruit but I haven’t had this in a long time and it’s darker than I remember. — 5 days ago
