Very good and well balanced at 5 years old. Generous fruit, some earth, and plenty of spine. Tannins not noticeable. I’d buy this. — 14 days ago
Rich, dark purple in the glass. Shy, reticent nose of dark pie cherry, and tobacco. Smooth, (perhaps too smooth) and ripe (perhaps too ripe)… definitely “New world” in style. I think perhaps Barbera needs a bit of roughness, wildness, primitiveness to balance the fruit. Still a nice accompaniment to hot Hawaiian pizza and late-summer heirloom salad. — 12 days ago
Color of bubbly purple, quite dark. Nose of dark fruits (cherry, currants, blackberry), aldehyde, tobacco leaves, powerful alcohol, not too shabby. Taste of ample acidity, plentiful tannins, oak, spicy sweetness, ripe grapes, and indeed some warm bourbon like note. Aftertaste of more warmth, note tobacco note, some more zesty and sweet note. I am quite happy with it. I am quite happy with this 2nd bottle even though the notes are slightly different. — 16 days ago
I like being surprised with natty wine., the selection of others are always fun and and refreshing.
Nice NV natty Mendocino Carignan, lil sour and tart but to be expected from natty wine, has my support. Would like to see again, and also possibly a vintage wine. — 6 days ago
Maybe even more fun than last vintage…dark, rich Ruby color.. intense aroma of dark, tart Michigan cherry, sour rhubarb, watermelon, and juicy strawberries… beautiful balance of lively acidity and pure fruit fun. Sweet summer quaffer…near Rose perfection, but not for the timid…serious power! — 19 days ago
