Petrus Kellerei

Pétrus

Pomerol Red Bordeaux Blend 1972

Opened and slowed to slow-ox hours prior to service. My first Petrus and even when considering this is the 1972, I can sort of see what the fuss is about. It pours an almost deep amber color with signs of sediment. This is a herbaceous, savory wine with a bouquet of dried flowers, pipe tobacco, Fig Newtons, roasted beef, salmiakki, and old wood. Long and velvety, I can only imagine how impressive these wines are in strong vintages. Drink now. — a month ago

Lime and gooseberries, slightly bitter finish. Not too exciting - was paired with a hamachi crudo but may have been better off with a NZ sauce blanc. — 5 months ago

Valle Isarco Gruner Veltliner 2018

Italian Gru-V! Delicate aromas of white flowers, apricot and tropical fruits. Bright citrus flavors with mineral and asparagus notes on the pallet. Hint of white pepper spice. Yellow/Green color. Wonderful freshness. Tastes like spring in a bottle! Bracing acidity. Excellent. — 4 years ago

Sirmian Alto Adige - Südtirol Pinot Bianco 2019

An excellent #altoadige #pinotbianco - apple/pear orchard fruit, soft spring flowers on the nose. Mouthwatering acidity balanced against a medium-plus body; just a well-made wine that highlights the terroir. — 2 years ago

Kalterersee Classico Superiore Südtirol Alto Adige Schiava 2020

Brick rim and super pale transparent salmon color. Some pink and purple floral aromatics on the nose, a little funk but not overpowering or off putting whatsoever.
Great acidity, balanced alcohol, very smooth and light tannin that linger to deliver a peppery finish. Overall complex and delicate on the palate with amarena cherry flavor and some artificial pink candy like hubba bubba or cotton candy saltwater taffy. Really desirable minerality similar to the whites I’ve tried from this region. i don’t think you need to chill this before drinking. Would definitely recommend and I’d buy it again for $20 in that 90-92 range for me. Probably at the end of its window if I had to guess, ready to drink now.
