Ghemme is my sentimental favorite of the Novarese DOCs. I had a really good one when I was in my last year of college and starting my wine journey. It generally is one of the heavier and, sometimes, earthier of the group. This one is very good. Still youthful, it takes time to open up, but slowly reveals dark cherry, mahogany furniture, crushed minerally gravel, and roasted meat scents. Medium full, it’s got concentrated and tight dark cherry fruit, very fine-grained but abundantly chalky tannins, and very nice acidity. No rush to drink this. Enjoy over the next 4-5 years, maybe longer. — 2 years ago
Unbelievably delicious. Perfect nose. One of Ross’ best. — 2 years ago
The 1st or one of the 1st DOCs. The only DOC for white. very pretty aromatics, under ripe white stone fruit, stony, mineral, white floral. medium bodied, slightly viscous, medium acid, long long finish. delicious. this is right up my alley — 3 years ago
@Delectable Wine this is the Blanc de Noir*
One of Piedmont’s newest DOCs — for Metodo Classico wines from traditional French varieties. Why should Franciacorta & Trentodoc have all the fun? Great opener to one of best lunches / meals we had in Italy. — a year ago
Oaky but surprisingly light. — 2 years ago
