Hyland Vineyard Riesling 2017

This is Oregon first, a nod to GG level Pfalz, but it's own thing. And I love it. Cool, weighty, rich and balanced, a 100 layers deep, so beautifully introverted.

Metallic, wooly residue of wet copper, rubber ball, and little accents: jasmine flowers, mirabelle plum, cinnamon spiked honey, caramel brittle, squirt of naval orange.

Big, ripe and grand cru nose. Big, ripe apple and profound pear. So vivid. Saline, iodine and white pepper. Really compelling nose. Super layered nose. Stunning. Batard? Lean, acidic and super complex. Juicy, tiny berry fruit intensity. Nose has also some brown butter. So juicy. — a month ago

Gorgeous nose. Iodine, saline and hazelnuts. Also lime blossom. Faint hint of citrus and stone fruits. Exceptional minerality. Super elegant and intense with superb concentration and focus. Salty finish with profound acidity. Really evocative nose that shows a sense of place. Palate has terrific finesse. More than 19. 20 was a wash because of the fires. Long finish and stellar balance. Wow. Almost a 9.5. Really focused and linear. Yes this was a 9.5. — a month ago

Blackberry, blackberry coulis, dark cherry, intense florals. Violets. So gorgeous. Stunning nose. 9.7 nose. So fresh and elegant with terrific acidity. So complex and engaging. Super young but man oh man what potential. Super complex finish. Inner mouth aromas. Terrific inner mouth aromas. Really engaging mid palate. Spicey, structured and fresh. So so long. Acid is on point. Wait 5-7 years. Really opens up on day 2. Creamy mid palate but still so much tension. Beautiful finesse. Best wine Evan has ever made. Almost 9.7. Nose is so complex with unreal forest/herbal/spice elements. Gorgeous Black cherry. So vivid. Palate is so focused and rich get tempered and restrained. Extraordinary fruit quality. This is a 9.7. — a month ago
