Off Dry Riesling

Smith Madrone

Spring Mountain District Riesling 2019

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a few hours. The 2019 pours a pale straw color with medium viscosity. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of bright tropical fruit, apple, petrol, white flowers and minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with high acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+ with zippy minerality. So tasty. Drink now through 2034. — 6 days ago

Ravines Wine Cellars

Dry Finger Lakes Riesling 2017

2017 Ravine White Springs Vineyard Dry Riesling (Finger Lakes). Nine years old and still seems youthful. Great nose of zesty Granny Smith and slightly unripe Cortland apples and lots of high-toned stony minerality. Palate is concentrated and intense, lots of crisp acid to balance the deep fruit and intense stones. Lipsmackingly delicious. 9.3 (This is a re-post because @Delectable Wine deep-sixed the original) — 3 months ago

Finger Lakes Dry Riesling 2023

Straw and green apples and the nose and palate. Finishes like a Granny Smith. Good acidity with some sugar but not too much sweetness. Reserve is a step up but this is a great value. — 5 months ago

Solid Riesling. A tad too sweet for me. Very fruit forward with medium minus acidity. Peaches and candied pineapple dominate. — 8 months ago

Dr. L Dry Mosel Riesling 2022

Citrus, white flowers, lemon zest and a tiny petroly note on the nose. Sharp acid drive and lemony notes all around the palate. It's dry, yes, but there is almost a sweet note in mid palate. The finish is fresh, tangy and zesty and keeps you salivating. It's not great but it does the trick quite well. — 3 years ago

Clos Ste. Hune Alsace Riesling 2017

Opened about 30min prior to service. The 2017 Clos Ste. Hune pours a pale straw color with medium viscosity. On the nose, the wine is developing wjth beguiling notes of the perfectly ripe Comice pear, a mix of stone and tropical fruits, lemon blossom, a touch of petrol and minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with high acid. Confirming the notes from the nose, the finish lasts forever. This is unbelievably balanced and a fantastic pairing with the toro crudo. This is just at the beginning of what’s sure to be a very long drinking window. Enjoy now through 2057. — a month ago

Grosset

Polish Hill Clare Valley Riesling 2017

Often the Grosset Polish Hill doesn’t live up to its billing as perhaps Australia’s finest dry Riesling but with this 2017 it probably exceeds expectations. It is simply fabulous. Some ripe lusciousness to the mid palate amid lime and lemon notes, but finishes bone dry. My first of 4 bottles so I will enjoy the journey over the next 5+ years if I can keep my hands off it. HH said it is shaping up as one of the greatest Polish Hill Rieslings. — 8 months ago
