La collina di dioniso, Fabio Oberto dolcetto d'alba 2016
Plum, dried plums, cherry, leather, a bit of graphite too. The nose is very inviting. The palate is well made with a great acid backbone, light, drying tannins, cherry notes, a soft mouthfeel and a long fruity finish that calls for another sip. Great dolcetto. — 4 years ago

Third wine of Chateau Rauzan-Ségla. Intense cassis and blackberry with earth notes sourced from younger vines. Egidio, you'd probably really like this. 92+ — 9 years ago
Beau cadeau de Noël du grand ! Belle robe légère cuivrée, goût de cerise, du côté sec. Parfait avec des pâtes. — 5 months ago

The 2017 Barolo is a pretty dense wine from proprietor Nicola Oberto. I am used to seeing a bit more finesse and transparency here, but the 2017 is quite a powerhouse. Large-grained tannins add to that impression. Time in the glass brings out hints of spice and tobacco, and yet the 2017 remains a bit rough around the edges. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, October 2021)

Pretty wine, the sweetness is remarkable. First wine from this producer but positively surprised. — 9 years ago
A delicious Barbera, bringing forward a combination of red fruit and chewy wood! — 9 years ago
Solid stuff, a very nice glass. Thanks Mr Oberto! — 8 years ago
Lots of lavender, rosemary and rose. The wine still shows some signs of primary aromas and flavors of blackberries, plums and black raspberries. The oak comes through nicely as warm spice, cloves and sandalwood. All well integrated and with med+ acidity. The tannins are velvety. Mature and drinking wonderfully now but it should last another year or two in the cellar. — 10 years ago

Last had a bottle of the 2010 9 years ago and lost this one under a couple of other bottles. Popped and double decanted to remove sediment. Color showing considerable browning at the rim initially, it seems to be looking more youthful with air time. Nose is pretty intense, with the fruit showing a slightly pruney note, which I’m hoping dissipates as it gains air, and dark cherry lozenges. Beyond that, lots of leather, polished mahogany furniture, and sous-bois. The palate is still vigorous, with nice acids and intense but soft tannins framing deep, licoricey flavors. Quite full bodied. A little austere on the finish, it I’m hoping that pairs well with the braised beef short ribs that will be ready in 30 minutes. 9.2 for now; will update if that changes. — 16 days ago
