Dunn Vineyards

Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon 1997

1997 vintage. Still dark as all get out. A quarter century has thinned out the massive body to medium body but the unified nose/flavors are full of chaparral/scrub, cassis, baking chocolate, gravelly dirt and blackberry reduction. Tasted approximately two hours after decanting. Miles to go before this one sleeps. In the zone now and likely so for another decade before any noticeable drop off in this old school Dunn experience. — a year ago

Côtes du Rhône Red Rhône Blend

Winston Jones
9.0

Consistent! I’ve tasted several vintages and I’m mostly very pleased. Drinking Very Local. I may be biased, as I am currently living 3 miles south of the winery, sometimes that can cloud your perception. But this stuff is good. The QPR is out of this world. Can’t wait to visit the winery and taste through the lineup. — 3 years ago

From Wine-Searcher “Fifty Shades of Syrah”: Nights in the northern Rhône are cool; acidity levels are good. Only in very hot vintages does more shading, via canopy management, become necessary. But at the same time, Guigal is investing in cooler sites in the north of Côte-Rôtie – Philippe mentions Saint-Cyr sur le Rhône, which was "considered too cold 10 years ago, but we feel that [it] could become interesting to very interesting in the future and in warm vintages".

Need more info, what North of Rotie equates to, New AOC?? Moving into Beaujolais? ... ??

Margaret River Chardonnay 2019

Pale, near watery straw gold with light green highlights. Shy, inviting nose and medium light palate of yellow apple, juicy citrus rind, and lemon drop. Medium plus acidity. Medium short finish. So, this is Margaret River Chardonnay. A food-friendly, lightly oaked Chardonnay in a New World meets Burgundy style. Enjoy with a wide range of fare from crisp salads to hearty roasted poultry. It will pair nicely. Drink now through 2024. — 4 years ago

Luc Massy

Grand Cru Clos du Boux Epesses Chasselas

Entry-level Chasselas by Luc Massy, a historic producer from the village of Epesses in Lavaux (right on the shore of Lake Geneva, about 6 miles southeast of Lausanne). Pale gold color. Discreet nose with subtle aromas of pear, bake apple and vanilla. Light-bodied, round, delicate. Low acidity, subtle minerality. Great breakfast wine, as they say around here. — 2 years ago

Tenuta Sette Ponti

Crognolo Toscana Sangiovese 2017

Last ‘17 in cellar! In the heart of the Chianti lies Estate of Sette Ponti, 15 miles northwest of the city of Arezzo, past village of San Giustino Valdarno. Has 10% Merlot, aged in French Allier barriques, deep Ruby with red fruit aromas and floral notes. On the palate blackberry, plum and cherry flavors with blossom notes, spice and fine integrated tannins. Good balance, long finish ending with some oak and mineral tones. Nice! Will age a bit more! Tasting well now! — 2 years ago
