San Giorgio

Ugolforte Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2023

Whelan's from Ed K, great value, 2023 drinking well, a bit of tart, but great structure, very pleasing on the nose, cracking wine/experience so happy to have expanded beyond French classics which are and still consistent and benchmark for my palatte — a month ago

Nivole Moscato d'Asti 2024

2024. Another sentimental pickup at the store tonight. My wife and I used to get the 375 mL bottles of Nivole at a local liquor/wine store in Lincoln in the early 1990’s and that store just announced they were closing after 63 years. 😢 — a month ago

That always stinks when your old reliable stop & shop just gave you 2 the ol' shuttering down the doors🚪 news!

I really think it was all of the big box wine/beer/spirits stores that opened in the last few years that is making it harder for smaller single location businesses to keep going.

San Giorgio Spumante Erbaluce di Caluso

Sparkling Erbaluce in Alba from benchmark producer. Learned that outside of Canavese, the name Erbaluce cannot be used. It seems that sometimes the Italians - and Alto Piedmontese (a name we in the US bestowed on a them) let their hyper local regional alliances and squabbles - undermine their global marketability. Some in the older generation and most of new generation seem to get this, but the consortia continue to resist… — 3 years ago

Even better 4 1/2 years after the first time I tried it. This wine/vintage over-performs. Comparable to some of the higher end riservas. — 2 years ago
