Palás Barolo Nebbiolo

Still a subpar Barolo, but better than most standard nebbiolos. I guess you get what you bargain for in this one. But don’t use it to impress anyone. — 6 days ago

I love campanian whites, a lot of them are so smoky and dense/clean. Never had this grape yet, anything special about the taste?

@Chris Shultz I’ve had this wine before but it was a while ago. Probably 2012 or 13. This 2018 impressed me because, unlike what I remember, it showed delicate floral notes and subtle but unmistakable persistence. I wouldn’t say there’s a lot of density or energy but definitely clean and surprisingly layered. My impression of previous vintages was more of the classic ashy notes of Campania.

V11. Nice. Plum and tar nose. “Rich” blackberry, black cherry, plum and tar fruit. Bone dry, pepper, black licorice, earth, coffee finish. Lot going on, but all good. — a month ago

Ca' Rugate

San Michele Soave Classico Garganega 2018

Along w/ Pra & Pieropan - the royalty of Soave. Ca’Rugate also make fantastic reds. Their wines are always balanced and strike the proper balance of extraction & finesse. This was no different: floral and citrus, vein of minerality, suave acidic backbone, delicious finish. — a month ago

Tortoniano Barolo Nebbiolo 2009

Had an ‘09 left in cellar, last time I had this classic Barolo was 4years ago and it needed lots of decanting, produced from of 100% Nebbiolo grapes. Medium Ruby with a bouquet of berry fruit aromas, mostly cherries, with earthy herbs. Aged in large oak cask for 2 years, on the palate complex flavors with cherries, stewed plums, blueberries, leather, earthy herbs and a hints of smoke and spice. Crisp acidity with tannins, still tight, gave the wine elegance & structure on the long finish. This Barolo still has room to age! Nice! — 2 months ago
