Bodegas Sierra Cantabria

Crianza Rioja Tempranillo 2021

Over delivers! Rich and food friendly. A great companion to grilled flank steak and artichoke. If you see this bottle, don’t be put off by the reasonable price point. I would drink this again. — 19 days ago

Sierra Cantabria

Codice Tempranillo Blend 2020

After a slew of ho-hum wines, this is very refreshing! A bit light bodied, so I didn't think i was getting much on the first sip, but it really has a nice depth of flavor and nuance. Would definitely try again with various food pairings.

Viña Bosconia Reserva Rioja Tempranillo Blend 2005

Blend of Tempranillo (80%), Garnacha (15%) and Graciano (5%) from the El Bosque vineyard, hence its name. Located at the foothills of the Sierra de Cantabria, this vineyard was historically known as Viña Borgoña due to the presence of Pinot Noir. Aged for 5 years in oak. Elegant, serious wine. Dark ruby, orange hues. Complex nose with aromas of dark fruit, leather, herbs (fennel, mint, licorice), dark chocolate, cedar and smoke. Fresh, lots of red fruit on the palate. High acidity. 2005 and still so young. — 5 years ago

Viñedos de Páganos

El Puntido Rioja Tempranillo

El Puntido from Viñedos de Páganos is a 100% Tempranillo red wine from Rioja.
It is fresh, fruitforward with dark red fruits and quite some depth and length. Viñedos de Páganos is one of the many estates of the Eguren family, winemakers in Rioja with a 150 year history, amongst which Sierra Cantabria, San Vicente and La Nieta.

Amancio Rioja Tempranillo Blend 2015

Opened yesterday and found it harsh with loads of tar overwhelming anything else.
Today it sings! And it sings and keeps on singing!
Dark red fruit, some vanilla tones, cigarbox, good acidity to back it all up.
Great wine.

Bodegas Pedro Martínez Alesanco

Blanco 2020

For the price👍🏼
Winery notes as follows

Based in the Southern Rioja Alta village of Badarán, Martínez Alesanco is bodega producing expressive, regionally specific wines at very reasonable prices. They are entirely self reliant in grapes, all of which are grown in their home village of Badarán, one of the coldest zones of Rioja Alta. The vineyards are closer to the Sierra de la Demanda mountains, a range whose elevation and snow-covered peaks are even more dramatic than the Sierra Cantabria range to the north. Martínez Alesanco's Blanco is made from equal parts Viura, White Tempranillo, Malvasia, and Sauvignon Blanc in iron-rich clay soils. In fact, this red-tinged, iron-laden clay marks the wines as noticeably as it does the homes and structures of this structures of this off-the-beaten-path, soulful Rioja village. Given the coolness of the harvest combined with Badarán's unique colder climate, this is a zippy and bone dry white that makes for a perfect aperitivo or foil to fresh oysters, sushi, anchoas, jamon, you name it. Crisp, lively, ever so drinkable white.

Rosado Rioja Tempranillo Blend 2019

Off the truck into the freezer & into the glass. Buy a case if you can find it.
K&L and
Winery notes, Based in the Rioja Alta village of Badarán, Martínez Alesanco is a truly original bodega producing tasty, characterful wine for laughably low prices. They grow all their own grapes in their home village of Badarán, one of the coldest zones of Rioja Alta. The vineyards are closer to the Sierra de la Demanda mountains, a range whose elevation and visible snow covered peaks are even more dramatic than the Sierra Cantabria range to the north. Martínez Alesanco's Rosado is made from Garnacha and white Viura grapes in a typical "clarete" style for which this river valley is justly famous (the vineyards that Muga sources for their popular rosé are not too far away). Bright red berries, juicy blood orange and ripe citrus fruit combine to produce this mouthwatering, delicious rosé. You simply must try this one.
