Garrigue purple herbes and lots of purple cooked fruit. Tannins are intense - probably needs a little time to be perfect, but drinking well now. — 2 years ago

Not for the timid if an in-your-face Cab Franc is one’s introduction to the varietal. That said, a few put away in the cellar will bring much joy down the road. At the moment the wine is defined by dark berries, orange peel, green pepper and yes, even herbes de Provence. Crazy, I know. While a Fleurie and Limniona will bookend tomorrow’s Thanksgiving meal, a sneak pour of this Cab Franc is all but guaranteed. Can’t wait! 🦃🇺🇸🦃 — a year ago
Light garnet dress. Nose: red fruits, cedar, tobacco, evolution touch. In the mouth it’s half full-bodied - melted and of great finesse, reminiscent of the refinement of Burgundy; medium acidity. Intense notes of strawberry, raspberry, smoke, eucalyptus, dried herbs, dried rose. Very nice aromatic bouquet. The whole is in balance. 2015 is perfectly ready to drink.
— 2 years ago

2006 vintage. Decanted and tasted after 3 hours. Ummm...yeah. Not the greatest vintage for the Right Bank. It matters not. This wine redefines the word "brooding." Massive body (still!) after 1.5+ decades and a nose chock full of black truffles and fudge. Flavors added pine forest mud and a fines herbes ensemble. Generally not the biggest Pomerol fan but this wine casually tosses out both exquisite brusque and delicate tendencies in the same draw. This has at least two decades to stroll around the grounds until it feels at home. Goo goo koo joo. Simply, effing magnificent. WOTN! Happy birthday, Dermott! 3.5.23. — 2 years ago
Fluid cherry-ruby dress. Nose: red fruits, spices, vegetable. Smooth mouth, light, flexible body. Notes of Pinot Noir and Gamay well restored, assembled in harmony in an accessible and complex bouquet with many shades: cherry, cloves, pepper, strawberry, blackberry, rose, violets. Pretty vegetable notes, almost menthol, dry herbs, hay. Tertiary notes slightly smoked/vanilla, suggesting a possibility of Burgundian evolution. Very nice work at a correct price.
Robe cerise-rubis fluide. — 2 years ago

I had the 1998 vintage of this dusty old Bordeaux about 5 months ago and it was underwhelming. Maybe an off bottle. But THIS 99 is pretty great. Fresh mixed berries (blueberry) on the nose, and very elegant fruit + tame soft tannins give a really nice mouthfeel with an extraordinarily long finish. Dried herbes de Provence and hay for days. I’m having one glass tonight and will check back in tomorrow after more air. Not an expensive bottle, but age served it well.
Follow up: Really singing on day 2. Got even better with another hour+ in the glass. But I’d say it’s getting slightly past its prime and best to drink now :) Party like it’s 1999. — 3 months ago
