Le Petit Saint Jacques

Château Talbot

Saint-Julien Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2019

Quite smoky & raw. Gravel & raw cacao. The fruit really hidden right now. Barely hinted. After some time a bit of cassis emerges.
Dense on the palate. And quite burly. Big tannins, juicy yet very present. Great depth. Roast, cacao, very masculine.
This is way too early to drink this, still needs time to settle down. Brilliant but way too young.

Château Gloria

Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

Dark ruby hue. Aromas of blackberry, blueberry, cassis, leather, plum. Plus body, full tannins, plus acid. Balanced, bold, and refined, with a long finish. Definitely worth pairing with hearty food. 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc, 3% Petit Verdot. — a month ago

Château Montrose

Saint-Estèphe Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2019

Deep and quite opaque , narrow ruby rim . Quite a lot of wood spice though with time in the glass there is a lot underneath that oak , dark cassis , ripe blackberry and a mineral undertone . Quite round and ripe on the palate , almost ‘new world’ in style compared to some of the preceding vintages , rounded but gritty tannin , balanced acidity . Generous and round, but with balanced alcohol , good length. Dark cassis , blackberry dark cherry notes. A strong oyster shell , saline component after a while in the glass . Needs time obviously , even though this is quite round and ripe. Intense with great potential. Better in 10-15 years will last well a further 10-15. — 9 days ago

Not as focused as the 2019 enjoyed at a steak house a few weeks ago. But still very enjoyable, of course! — a month ago

Domaine Julien Cruchandeau

Aux Saint Jacques Nuits Saint Georges Pinot Noir 2014

A accidentally find in my cellar it’s a huge mess! This is what Burghs are all about. This one needs air. Plenty of tannins left should go for another 4 years or so. Crushed Marble, Port wine notes, touch cherry 🍒, hint cinnamon, tree bark, touch bitter, black tea notes. Tomorrow more after 24h’s on the Argon line. Mellowed further out. — a month ago
