Cool label. Vine drawing. Strange unknown Italian varietal. Dark as night in the glass. Can’t see through it. Lovely stewed fruits and molasses nose. Hint of wet rocks. Forest streams. Flavors are complex and complex. Some black pepper. Bit of black olive. Streak of perfect blackberry jelly. Tannins are balanced. Smooth, but full of dense flavors. Consistent notes from February 2019. Molasses Caramel etc and ultra smooth. A top quality rum from Nicaragua. Great minerality from all the old lava flows in that country where the sugar cane grows. 18 years old. — 5 years ago

Like a volcanic barbera. These can be tannic but five years of bottle age has smoothed the edges somewhat. Not that giving of the bat but evolves with charcoal, lava stones, spices and green olives. — 6 years ago

This one has fleshed out nicely over the last 2 years, showing better balance and integration of flavors. Acidity has become more mellow. Nose of lava/asphalt/petrol and grilled lemon. Very mineral, earthy, and austere on the palate as well. Lemony, smoky and salty finish. Almost like a shot of tequila…! 🌵 🍋 🧂
