Wow. For those of you who remember Delectus wines, this is the first vintage of Gerhard Reisacher’s new operation in Knight’s Valley...and it is a winner. Intense aromas of cassis, black currant, and bittersweet chocolate, this has a rich, full-bodied mouthfeel, sweet and perfectly integrated tannins, and a long, elegant finish. Easily on par with the best wines he ever made at Delectus, if you liked those wines then you’ve got to try this! — 6 days ago
I forget what I pay for some of these new ones I’ve never had.
Opened and tasted before I looked it up. Not bad for $15.00
I was hoping I didn’t pay over $30.00
Rooted in the vision of winemaker Derek Rohlffs, Bravium is a study in patience and a mindful connection between land and wine. It's all about the connection between vineyard and what goes in the glass. "Terrior is a gift." Winery note: "This bright and balanced wine perfectly reflects the cool-climate Russian River Valley vineyard where it was grown. Brilliant yellow-gold in color, with fresh tree and tropical fruit aromas that are highlighted by candied apple, ripe peach, pineapple, brioche, lemon oil, white flowers, and sea spray. The wine opens with gorgeous sweet apple and pineapple fruit flavors, with vanilla and honeycomb notes. A finely-textured, invigorating mouthfeel, with a generous mid-palate and medium-plus acidity, is framed by crisp fruit and subtle oak-derived flavors. Hints of herbal tea give way to flinty minerality and refreshing acidity. The complex flavors linger on the finish of this racy and lively Chardonnay." — 4 days ago
Partnership w/Jim Clendenen at Au Bon Climat. Barbara Barham & Richard Mendelsohn planted 5 acres of Pinot on Lala Panzi Ranch in the RRV. They had similar visions on Pinot’s & thus led to this partnership. Aged in predominately new Allier & Vosges wood. Aromas of berry fruits with dusty earthy nose. On the palate, berry flavors come forth with hints of tea & spice. Medium+ length, fine tannins, ending with earthy mushroom character, it was good, lost its luster, at its prime now! — 2 days ago
Enjoyed paired with a grilled ribeye. Deep red, the flavors are complex (I can’t name the “notes” but they are distinctive ). Was on sale at $25 - have one more bottle ! — 3 days ago
The high rating might be because I’ve been starved for upscale wines while stranded in Houston without my home cellar but this tasted awesome tonight. Could also be the awesome food at one of our favorite BYOB restaurants in the city. I’m a bit confused by the Knights Valley mention as well as Sonoma County??? — 18 days ago
This shot is for @Norman Gennaro.
So here’s the deal... wifey and I have a small place, which means that we can’t build a room with a cellar - we just don’t have the real estate. So, working with @Mo Salem, our cellar needed to be an integral part of our living space. We’re doing something similar below our stairs. Keep you posted on that.
Let’s turn to this stunning SB. Aromas of grapefruit and slate on the nose. Palate is flinty and honied. Perfect acidity and weight on the mid-palate. It’s exuberant all the way to the finish. $22!!! 😀 — 6 days ago
Medium gold in the glass....funky, cheesy, goodness. Forest floor, ripe pear, touch of Brie, musk melon, with some serious weight as it warms. I don’t know if I’d pour this for my sister-or mother-in-law, but all my wine-nerd friends would swoon and pontificate. The wine sings like Beyonce, and takes off and soars. Not sure I want many of these, but fun and pushing the vinous envelope. Dry and balanced, just out-there. — 3 days ago
