New blend from the Prisoner Wine Co. Very Dense. Petite Sirah, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Zinfandel. I initially liked the label better than the wine - the flavor components just didn’t seem to really integrate all that well - except a day later this wine found its balance. So you really want to decant like crazy to fully enjoy this bottle. — 5 days ago

Effingham Manor Cellars Effingham Reserve 2019, Virginia
Happy #nationalwineday. Celebrating with a unique one from Virginia.
Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.
On the nose black currants, oak, plums, black cherries, Indian spices, licorice, tobacco leaf, black tea, herbs, dark chocolates, eucalyptus and peppercorn.
Full bodied with medium plus acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate with plums, cherries, currants, oak, light vanilla, spices, espresso, earth, peppercorn, tobacco leaf and herbs.
Soft finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cranberries.
This is a very interesting red blend from Virginia. Showing nice complexity already, with a soft mouthfeel. Tasty and enjoyable.
Smells very much like a young Bordeaux right out of the bottle.
Needs an hour in a decanter to open up.
Once it opens up, the palate catches up to the Bordeaux Style as well.
Still young and needs a few years to mature. Showing good potential, and would be nice to revisit it in 3 years.
At this point, the Merlot is more dominant than the rest. Feels like a right bank Bordeaux. Spicy, tangy and entertaining.
Good by itself or with food. Really enjoyed the nose once it opened up. A very nice sipping wine.
A blend of 38% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 19% Tannant, 15% Petit Verdot and 3% Cabernet Franc. Aged for 14 months in American oak barrels.
13.5% alcohol by volume.
90 points.

Color of dark purple. Nose of woody barrel, dark fruits, strength of alcohol, and more oaky note. Taste is smooth and sweet, low tannins, with slightly burn maybe due to being aged in oak barrel. Some more grapefruit, acidity, cocoa, spicy alcohol and sweet ripe fruits in the 2nd sip. Aftertaste definitely shows some warmth in the throat. Quite tasty at this price range. — 10 days ago
