Double-decanted earlier in the day; enjoyed over the course of a few hours. The 1975 pours a beautiful garnet color with a near opaque core; medium viscosity with moderate staining of the tears and light some sediment. On the nose, the wine is vinous with notes of dried reds fruit: currants, cherry, mushrooms, organic earth, spiced meat, tobacco, leather, and a touch of barnyard. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium, integrated tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose, the finish is medium. This showed well tonight. Thanks Andy! Drink now. — an hour ago
Decanted with a candle. Swirled in a decanter. Bouquet of dusty dried cherries and plums. . Initial bold fruit and dry finish before it opens up. Afterwards, the fruit moves to a dusty middle. Medium tannins. — 3 days ago
Slightly medicinal notes. Dark fruit, leather, cedar, plum and bitter cherry. Soft and long. — 7 days ago
tart and tangy. Red cherry. Blood and light floral notes. Very petty. Light — 7 days ago
40 year old vines. Blend of Cab Franc and Petit Verdot. 13.5% abv. Feels so young for a 2016! Red berries, spice, raisin and fresh greens on the nose. Delicate palate, underripe raspberry and red currant, with a refined long herbal finish and bitter notes. Great soft, tingly tannins. Excellent Bordeaux, I have to say. St Julien style. I’m amazed at how fresh this tastes after almost a decade. — a month ago
