What a wonderful mencia varietal, balanced and bright red, tint of strawberry, raspberry, pomegranate, baking spice, pepper and licorice. I love it!!! — 3 months ago

Always fun to explore an indigenous varietal from Spain - especially when Alvaro Palacios is involved. I found this Mencia wine to be medium bodied with good acidity and structured tannins that were present in this young wine but not obnoxiously so. The fruit is darker dried red fruit that proved to be a good compliment with grilled shishito peppers. It was so nice to dive into a new aspect of Spain’s wine history. — 2 months ago

Saddle leather, pencil lead, fresh, crisp red fruit aromatics and flavors, the leather notes run throughout but do not show barnyard or Brett, great balance and acidity, long, lingering finish, I just love Colares, amazing the depth and length this shows at 11.0% ABV!! — 6 days ago
