Jack's Own

Duckhorn Vineyards

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2021

Oaky, rich, full bodied, a bit too much on its own, better if paired with a fatty steak. — 23 days ago

Soft and fruity with balanced tannins. Maybe softer than preferred to pair with pizza, but quite good anyway on its own — 23 days ago

Jack's Masterpiece Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

2015 vintage still has boysenberry & plum notes, with soft tannins from aging 9 years. Hints of dark chocolate and coffee with slight hints wet stone — 4 months ago

1hr+ decant. Dark red color with subtle purple rims. Super complex nose and wine, so not even going to try and describe. Has a little bit of everything all summed up by awesome! Distinct on its own. — 9 months ago

Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2018

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of two hours. It’s been almost a year since my last visit with the 2018 vintage and it’s in a very pretty spot right now. All notes previously apply though I should point out that the florals are especially showy right now. The nose is simply beautiful to experience. The fruit remains fresh and mostly red fruited. The structure is still firm. Very, very easy to enjoy on its own or with a meal. Drink now through 2038+. — 19 days ago

Delicious. Smooth red that would pair with almost anything or perfect to drink on its own. — a year ago

Domaine de la Romanée-Conti (DRC)

Échézeaux Pinot Noir 2005

2005 vintage. Great fill and cork. Decanted and tasted after two hours. Small amount of chunky and powdery sed. Nose a bit musty but never funky during a high decant. Medium-heavy body. Tremendous power throughout. Can easily go another two decades. Still packing the signs of youth such as individual flavors easily evident vs melded/integrated ones. Tasted more like a 2020 vintage. Was hoping for more black tea, espresso, orange citrus peel, soy sauce notes (and there were some). This one's gonna need a bigger boat...er...another 7-8 years or a 5 hour decant to shed some of that overt power in a trade off for nuance. Delicious in its own way but not easy. Demanding. 04.04.25. — 17 days ago

@Pinotman /// Andreas If you ever saw The Untouchables from the late ‘80’ with Sean Connery, Kevin Costner, Andy Garcia and Robert De Niro…the “baseball bat scene.” That was this wine. Irrational and overkill. Fantastic in that space and time tho.

Jefferson Vineyards

Jefferson's Own Vin Rouge Red Blend

Interesting, more spicy notes of cinnamon and nutmeg than fruit. We first tasted it at Jefferson vineyard at Monticello on my 66th birthday trip. — 7 months ago
