I love this blend. I’m a big fan of J. Lohr and came across this bottle in Costco. It’s soft, fruity, but bold. Smell notes of chocolate, strawberry. Tastes of licorice, plum, cinnamon. I’m sure this would be even more fantastic to cellar. — 2 months ago

Compared to the last Becker dry Spatlese tasted, this was less inviting: a bit more mineral & stony, with none of the fruit flavors associated with Riesling to be found. Very chiseled & imagine needs time in bottle/ long decant. You can still taste the precision though. — a month ago
My 4th spin with this vintage and it's holding steady, if a little more reserved than it was in youth. The 16s were super open and drinkable young but have added more of what you'd expect in it's youth, more structure, more density, just more serious. Decant if having right away. If you can plan it, splash decant briefly and rebottle it with the cork open for 24 hours. — 2 months ago

Wow what a nose. Huge spice and violets and a feral quality. Glorious and expressive. Stunning. 9.6 nose. Smells ready to go which is in line with 2017 Walter. Also some dead leaves and tree bark. Palate is ripe, supple and juicy with great energy and freshness. Delicate yet intensely flavorful. So succulent. Red cherries galore and some cassis as well. Drink now with aplomb — a month ago
