Really singing now. Open and expressive. Lime and flint with yellow flowers, chalk. Amazing balance, acidity and depth. Really good. — 20 days ago
After an 04 Boillot Corton Charlie I opened was clearly corked, this was popped in its place. I’ve found many 05 WBs to be one dimensionally rich and fruit forward, and more California like in style. This was that PLUS everything you like about WBs. I quickly realized this bottle was opened way too early in its journey. Light gold, good weight. Exciting nose. Notes of citrus, tangerine, chalky white stone, cloves, a little nutmeg and some vanilla. Great energy in the mouth. Massive core of fruit, supported by amazing structure and noticeable acidity. After 3 hours in a decanter, this was singing. Easily one of the best 05s I’ve opened and very memorable. This can likely gain a few more points in its rating with another 10 years of age. Have 1 more bottle, destined to be opened circa 2030! — 2 days ago
One glass with dinner after work with steak cooked in burnt ends crab butter 👍🏼 full bodied, spice, dry, oak, mid tannins and acid — 15 days ago
Nose has light wood smoke, light struck flint, washed lemon, cold pineapple, apricots, chalky limestone, light vanilla and browning butter.
Palate has warmed lemon slice, candied pineapple, light toffee, warm yellow apple, orange zest, dried lemon pith with good acidity and medium finish. Not as good as the 2016 vintage, but certainly enjoyable! — 11 days ago
