Age showing in the color with a dulling rim, but the ruby red was in there. Red fruit and earthy aromas, currant flavors (the tart red fruit of a cherry, but not as fruity), a good amount of acid and some soft tannins. Currant component tasting (in the wild!). — 3 years ago

Niebaum Coppola Winery Rubicon 1994, Rutherford, California
#AgedWineTuesday
Dark ruby in color with a short brick rim.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity.
Dry and fruit forward on the palate with nice complexity.
Showing blackberries, black currants, plums, cedar, tobacco leaf, vanilla, licorice, spices, vinaigrette, eucalyptus, wet leaves, herbs and black pepper.
Medium finish with soft tannins and raspberries.
This 29 year old is still drinking nicely now, but past it's peak. Still showing lots of fruits at this age.
I did not decant it, and let it open in the bottle. Needs 90 minutes to open up properly.
Rich and fruit forward with a soft mouthfeel. Delicious and elegant.
Good by itself as a sipping wine. Nice to drink these kind of older wines.
A blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc. Aged in new French oak barrels for 24 months.
14.1% alcohol by volume.
93 points.

The epitome of fresh- lemon and lime, lime peel, green apple. It dances bright and on the palate in an angular fashion with the same intense flavors that trail. Slightly bitter finish. Overall good quality. Ecocert organic certified. — 4 years ago
Whites and reds from our recent Confrerie Saint Etienne dinner. I was fortunate to take home the last bottle, and I’m glad we have a few extras to keep hidden in the CSE cellar for a few years to see how they age.
This was paired alongside a Gustave Lorentz Gewurtztraminer Reserve, with the food being Lemon Sole. Wonderful pairing. Hardly any whiff of petrol here…more tropical than anything (guava, green pineapple), lemon and limestone. On the palate, this is one of the more commanding and deeply rich Alsatian Riesling’s I’ve had in a while. It’s nervy down the mid-palate, but really fleshed out on the sides…big time balance. Mineral streak, and total Alsatian vibe to it, but all dialed up to 11 (in a good way). Even over the course of dinner, this improved. Still on the upswing. — 2 years ago

From clay-limestone on the southern side of the Altenberg. This is all about rich petrol and citrus notes. Good acidity. Apple skin and minerality. — 2 months ago
