@Delectable Wine this is the 2015 Ernie Els Cape Winemakers Guild.
Our first time every at the Cape Winemakers Guild Auction and we will make sure to come back! (Tasting was on 9/28/18).
Sixteenth wine at the Friday Auction Tasting for the Cape Winemakers Guild and the fifth red wine. This is made up of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Shiraz and 10% Cinsault by Louis Strydom from the Stellenbosch region. Aged for a total of eighteen months prior to blending and bottling. Only 200 cases produced with 60 being auctioned in 2018 and 60 auctioned in 2017.
Medium to deep ruby red in appearance. Coated with dark spices and berries on the nose with a touch of gravel at the back end. Medium tannins (6.5/10) and medium plus bodied. A bit savory on the front of the palate with herbs, spices and some dried cherries. Dry and long finish. Still a very young wine that needs some age to develop. Drink till 2032.
$$ - Tasted at the Cape Winemakers Auction. Average bid at auction was R3,957.00 ($46.54 a bottle) a case. Highest bid was R5,800.00 ($68.22 a bottle) and lowest bid was R3,400.00 ($39.99 a bottle). (91+)

I know a few of you know about the Cape Winemakers Guild. If not I highly recommend trying to hunt them down or make it out to SA for it.
Deep garnet ruby red. A bit stinky on the nose with savory, meaty, and gamey notes. A touch smoky too with a touch of sweet spices and red berries undertone. Heavy tannins (7/10) and full bodied. Dark fruit on the attack with solid stoney notes. Some sweet spices too and more red fruits coming through. Long and lingering finish. Drink till 2027. — 9 years ago
80/10/10 SGM blend, Columbia Valley. Inky purple red, high pigment extraction. Plum and cherry aromas, more cherry and raspberry flavor. Medium body, medium seed tannins on finish. Great value but domestic vin de table at heart, which fully met my expectations. Tasty enough, citizens! Plum flavor and moderate skin astringency emerge after 45 minutes. Still on the tart side after two hours; match with food. — 2 years ago
Nice red - good and expected — 5 years ago
@Delectable this is Domaine Christian Cholet-Pelletier Pulgny-Montrachet.
White Burgundy & white cheeses...all in.
Beautiful, round, lush with viscosity. Honey, stone fruits-natural & some dry, apricot dry dominate pineapple flesh, lemon, lime zest, slightly bruised pear, granular minerals, chalk, white spice with hints to white pepper, sea fossils, saline, teasing brown sugar, touch of old woodiness with yellow flowers, greens, jasmine & spring flowers with perfect dripping acidity and a beautifully balanced, smartly polish finish with excellent taste guild and excellent persistence.
Really prefer the 12-13% ABV. This is 13%. — 6 years ago
Striking fresh ripe black currant at the start, with dryer tobacco notes from the glass, cranberry from the close up and an amazing evolution — 7 years ago
