The 2019 Etna Bianco Superiore Pietra Marina captivates. It’s perfumed and floral, with enriching notes of almond paste and confectionery spice that perfectly accentuate a smoky core of white peaches. There’s more lift on the palate, but it's a little backward, possessing wiry textures and an intense mineral core that adds depth to its citrus-inflected orchard fruits. Nervous acidity forces the mouth to water and maintains a dazzling freshness as inner florals resonate and a sour lime concentration settles in. The 2019 is just an infant today, compact yet complex, balanced and loaded with character. It will be a gorgeous Etna Bianco to follow over the next decade or more. (Eric Guido, Vinous, June 2024)

The 2021 Greco di Tufo Loggia della Serra’s alluring bouquet combines honeyed florals, peaches and mint. It’s soft-textured and sleek, with vibrant acidity and tropical citrus to elevate ripe orchard fruits. Mango and chamomile stick around on the dramatically long and complex finish. Wow. $24.00 (Eric Guido, Vinous, July 2023) — 3 years ago
The 2019 Pinot Bianco Riserva Vorberg has an exotic flair, blending rich notes of vanilla custard with white flowers, crushed pears and hints of sweet spice. It’s silky and deeply textural, washing creamy waves of ripe orchard fruits across the palate, while leaving saline-minerals that create a more tactile feel. There are depths yet unseen here, as the 2019 comes across as densely packed and layered, yet with perfect balance and a tart citrus reverberation that adds energy. It finishes long and lightly structured, leaving the palate completely refreshed. This is just a baby today, yet it is full of potential. I tasted the Vorberg from a freshly opened bottle and one that had been opened for two days without any sign of decline. (Eric Guido, Vinous, June 2022)

Another excellent vintage of “Second Label Sassacaia.” Bordeaux-style blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (60%) and Merlot (40%). Aromas of black fruit, baking spices and cedar wood. Flavors of black cherries and currants, woody herbs, black licorice and those sweet baking spices. Long finish highlighted by beautiful freshness. Well softened tannins, bright acidity and a silky texture. Simply elegant and at its peak. Part of a June 2026 KZ Tasting. — 17 days ago
2021 vintage. Quadruple decanted since the blender method wasn't an option. Seemed unfined and unfiltered with some überfine, powdery sediment. Chunky. Rustic. Tasted after 15 minutes, 1.25 hours and 3 hours. Some definite beauty and the beast moments. First time with this producer but would tackle again. 3.27.26. — 3 months ago
Black cherry, raspberry, currant, blackberry, vanilla and oak. Medium-bodied and soft tannins. — 9 months ago
Sweet herbal tones, tobacco, dark earth and dried black cherries form a dramatic bouquet as the 2017 smolders up from the glass. This is pure elegance on the palate, verging on opulence, yet with a core of tart black fruits and savory herbal tones to balance. Brisk acidity brings a nearly juicy feel toward the close. The 2017 folds in upon itself through the finish, balsamic and tarry, yet somehow maintains a lovely freshness as sweet tannins linger on. The 2017, an extremely warm vintage, contains 32% Petit Verdot, the largest amount ever included in the Reserve, balanced by 58% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Malbec. Chris Figgins explained that Petit Verdot achieved perfect ripeness in 2017. (Eric Guido, Vinous, October 2023)

Nosing the 2020 Cervaro della Sala is like waking into a French bakery in the early morning, with notes of lemon oil, butter cream, crusty bread, fresh dough and vanilla bean contrasted by a whiff of crushed oyster shell, which may not be on the menu, but still works perfectly here. This glides effortlessly across the palate with the silkiest of textures, steadily gaining in tension, as mineral-drenched orchard fruits give way to sour melon and, finally, pretty inner florals. The 2020 lingers impossibly long and lightly structured, displaying notes of candied citrus enriched by almond custard. I'd love to toss this blend of 92% Chardonnay and 8% Grechetto into a blind tasting of white Burgundy. Beautifully done. (Eric Guido, Vinous, November 2022)

The 2017 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico pulls you close to the glass with its beguiling bouquet, mixing spicy tangerine and hints of animal musk, giving way to black cherries, rose and cedar spice box. It’s potent and elegant, yet elevated by bright acidity and a cool-toned core of saline-minerals. Sour cherry and exotic spices linger under an air of rosy florals with a chalk-like smoky note. This is only lightly structured and a total pleasure to taste today. (Eric Guido, Vinous, April 2022)

Brick red w rose petal and hint of balsamic. Showing more age than I would have expected. But delicious — 3 months ago
This is great quaffable italian red. Perfect pizza wine. Nice round opulent fruit without being overblown. Enough tannin and acid to hold the package together. Buy again! — 7 months ago
Some of us, being Nebbiolo supplicants, love Ghemme for its paradoxical meaty, bloody, yet light qualities. This has it in spades, on the edge of cherry cough syrup but never quite there. The woods, especially on the nose. This wine would benefit from a large glass.
It’s a bit of a sneaky, under the radar winery, hopefully for a bit still.
Lots of cherries, loam, dirt, blood, stoniness. Delicious. A ‘17 feels just about right. — 2 years ago
The 2021 Pinot Grigio wafts up, wickedly bright and floral, like a spring day with fresh grasses, lemonade and melon. It washes across the palate silky and finessed with a pretty mix of ripe orchard fruits and inner florals. The 2021 finishes fresh, with medium length and leaves behind sage hints. Man the Appasiemento is really showing in this wine. Yowza. Tar, roses, raisins. Smells almost like Lessona Sforzato. Really weird. Some nice older library books, old wood and sultana. What a crazy nose. I like it. Palate is much more classic than the nose suggests. Big, ripe but also classy and elegant with dark cherry fruit and wood shop shavings. Luscious and juicy but my only issue is it’s drying and the tannins outpace the fruit. Drink now versus aging it longer. — 4 years ago
Delish!!!! Fresh, ripe cherry, raspberry, kirsch, violet, earl grey tea, licorice, nutmeg and vanilla notes.
High alcohol (14.5% ABV) balanced with fresh, albeit concentrated, red fruit notes. Integrated tannins and medium body.
Beyond approachable Nebbiolo, Langhe DOC, by Guido Porro. Vintage 2020.

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a two days. Better on Day 2. On the pop and pour, this bottle was backward and really seemed resistant to show much. I didn’t detect any real flaws or faults…just sort of, “meh”. On Day 2, it had opened considerably. The 2017 pours a deep garnet with a near opaque core; medium viscosity with light staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of tart and ripe blackberries, currants, mixed flowers, black tea, ferrous earth and a mix of cool and warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. Drink now with patience and through 2042. — 14 hours ago
