Oct 16th, 2023Man the Appasiemento is really showing in this wine. Yowza. Tar, roses, raisins. Smells almost like Lessona Sforzato. Really weird. Some nice older library books, old wood and sultana. What a crazy nose. I like it. Palate is much more classic than the nose suggests. Big, ripe but also classy and elegant with dark cherry fruit and wood shop shavings. Luscious and juicy but my only issue is it’s drying and the tannins outpace the fruit. Drink now versus aging it longer.

May 9th, 2022Lovely wine combining the delicacy, elegance, & finesse of Alto Piemonte nebbiolo and the concentration of appassimento grapes. Haunting nose, velvet palate. Supremely elegant. Cherry heering, soft tannins, dense fruit, medium finish. Needs upwards of 2 hours in the decanter, but 2012 is drinking beautifully now.
