Haven’t had this vintage in 5 years., and the extra 5 years of aging makes a difference.
I also had the 1994 exactly a year ago, and it’s even better than that.
Great value considering how aged it is. Smooth. Berry bonanza.
I play a game with my wife where she picks a bottle from my cabinet while I grill a steak (I’m this case, a 1.25kg dry aged porterhouse) and I blind taste the wine and tell her what it is. We made a bet that if I got the correct bottle (out of over 50) that she had to go and spend $150 on a bottle. If I got it wrong, I couldn’t shop at the LCBO for two weeks (that’s like a year for anyone else).
I guessed old world. Spanish. Approx 10 years old... but thought it was a 2010 Cune Gran Reserva.

Tannins and notes of dark fruit that last pretty much throughout. Brief bites of acidity and black pepper, but still manages to be mellow overall. Was great with salami, borgonzola and black olives. — 11 days ago
Strawberries and raspberries on the nose... medium tannins.... spice finish and berry and oak flavors.. pairs AMAZINGLY with flank steak, chimichurri and goat cheese stuffed portobellos — 14 days ago
High altitude Cab from Argentina. The color is inky red with a watery rim. Rich ripe dark fruit and oak scents. Time has served this wine well! The fore-pallet is again, fruit forward, velvety! The mid pallet has a great counter-balance composed of bold, oaky, and earthy flavors. The finish is long, slightly spicy, with strong tannings. Definitely a good wine; fruit is high but everything else falls right into place. — 3 days ago
I know less about Rioja than George Costanza knows about women. But damn, this one is pretty good. End of bin special at Binnys so at $24, this seems like a steal. A real nice weeknight drinker. — 11 days ago
Color of dull ruby with a touch of brown and purple gray. Nose of spice, dark berries and dark cherry, currants, cherry jam, coke, medicinal note, violet, a bit carbonates note, and a bit burning in the nasal cavity. Taste of ample acidity, vanilla, currants, savory spice, a bit peppery, a bit zest, refined yet solid tannins, and good alcohol strength. Aftertaste is medium with more sweetness and zest note. Pretty good. — 16 days ago
Liked this one. Some tasty dark fruitiness with a little tang. Not too smokey at all. — 8 days ago
Excelent wine, elegant. Pertect balanced between savory and tannins. — 9 days ago
