Darker and more brooding than Primavera. More structured. Plums, cherries, lilac and dried strawberries. Blood/iron notes. Classic β 6 years ago
Prior notes from 125 weeks ago still apply although I didnβt find this full bodied like I said over 2 years ago. There was that stalkiness and more savoury than fruity. The Yarra Valley is so versatile and does all the great grape varieties well with the exception of Riesling which is not planted. β 6 years ago
Between Applejack and Sexton, this displays strawberries all day, with twists of mushroom funk, sandalwood spice, and red cherries. Good β 7 years ago
Light and smooth. Peppery, cranberries, raspberries and coffee. Jammy on the finish. β 7 months ago

This Cabernet Sauvignon from South Africa is very easy drinking. Soft and nuanced, it presents blackberry jam, cocoa, wet stone, and mint. The finish is long with fine tannins. Not bad on its own, but really delicious with NY strip steaks.
Listening to Gerry Mulligan. β 9 months ago
About as good as Aussie pinot gets. Aromatically explosive - dark spicy fruit, mushroomy funk, and a menthol/tobacco note . The palate is full bodied and silky without being heavy. The quality of the rich dark fruit needs the acid and honed tannins of a young vintage. This would make old bones given the balance, but I prefer the young precocious colt. This is serious and nothing like the Giant Steps pinots of previous notes. 94++ β 5 years ago
V17. Pretty good... opaque color. Smokey nose. Substantial black cherry fruit. Black pepper, chocolate and earthy finish. Nicely balanced . β 5 years ago
More delicate and filigree than Wombat. Traditional chablis profile - citrus, some mineral and spice from oak. Linear and focused with strong acid spine. β 6 years ago
Superb. Really nice - flavourful, juicy, fruity, smooth. Buy again soon β 7 years ago
Perfect with my steak & shrimp dinner! Not sweet at all (which is normally what I look for in wine).. Iβm sure Iβd be told to serve warm but wine for me must be cold. Iβll buy again for compliments to my meals. Could even see sipping it for a nightcap on cool nights. β 7 years ago
This is such a lovely Pinot with a winning balance of fruit and acidity. The medium bodied wine has classic aromas of raspberry, strawberry, cranberry, red currant, violet, orange peel, black cherry and forest floor. Medium (+) finish, low tannin and just a perfect wine for food pairing. Classic on my Thanksgiving table. β 7 months ago
Vancouver island after 6mi hike. Kids partying next door maybe. Din will be scallops and shrimpie etc β 4 years ago
Mealy, brioche, mixed with fresh lemon and slate. Perfect balance of steely mineral, lemon sweetness, and buttery brioche. Wombat creek has been my favourite single vineyard Giant Steps a few times. This is outstanding. A complete wine. β 5 years ago

Mid to pale crimson - actually transparent. The pale colour belies the aromatic and palate intensity. Aromatics of cherry and raspberry transforming on to the medium bodied sweet red fruited palate. A touch of Sous Bois. An excellent Pinot as always from the Applejack Vineyard from Giant Steps. β 7 months ago
