1 of CA's oldest wineries, Far Niente, founded 1885 by John Benson. Winery flourished until Prohibition, when it was abandoned & fell into complete disrepair. Stately stone shell of a winery purchased in 1979 by Gil Nickel. A big wine! Tropical and stone fruit aromas with complex spice and oak notes. On the palate apple, peach and citrus flavors, creamy, with buttery toasty oak, fig/honey tones. Long finish ending with vibrant acidity & mineral character. Consistent. — 6 months ago
Rocco’s takeout and a nice bottle. Not a bad Saturday night. Bonus that the wife is letting me call the ball after dinner. — a month ago
💪👍 Fruit-forward, softer tannins than older vintages, but still a beauty with so much potential to develop over the years. — 6 months ago
Long a favorite, perfect balance. Black currant / black cherry on the palate. Over 5 years old with smoothed Tannins, but enough presence for further aging. August 2025. — 3 months ago

Notes of black cherry, cassis, sandalwood, baking spices, and just subtle green olive, which are consistent with the notes from about 9 months ago. Delicious.
