Dark, powerful wine. Blackberry & cracked pepper with chalky tannins just played perfectly with grillled Tri tip. This showed some great earthy notes as it opened up. Thoroughly enjoyed this wine. Paired up with what should be a country rock classic, The Fantastic Expedition Of Dillard & Clark. Ex-Byrd Gene Clark had a better run after he left the band & this is one of his highlights. — 7 years ago

I have a dear friend and artist who freely admits she makes a lot of her wine choices based on labels, bottles, and cool stories. She brought this wine to a New Year celebratory dinner where it was paired with prime rib. Aged in Bourbon barrels I was truly afraid I would not enjoy this wine at all. (History: The family bourbon gene skipped me). It was actually pretty good. Went nicely with the prime rib and offered great balance. Happy ending! — 7 years ago

crazy story on this "white" Burgundy that geeks love. Many years ago while walking through his vineyards, Henri Gouges noted some vines with white grapes, took some cuttings and grafted them, ultimately making a white wine from grapes now called Pinot Gouges--Pinot Noir has only one gene for color and these vines lost it, making them white. So it is a white or albino Pinot Noir, tastes red but looks white. Couple other producers make it, too. Good, not great wine, though. Fun to blind taste Burg lovers on. — 9 years ago
