Initial aged savoury notes featuring coffee grounds. See if I can continue this note. Wendouree Shiraz produced from ancient vines provides one of Australia’s iconic wines. This however was a little disappointing at 28 years from a big ripe vintage. I must say it still had a full bodied palate with amazing length and persistence with mid palate concentration. Ultra savoury. Despite this I have had better Wendourees. Similar to my sentiments on a previous Delectable note in November 2015. — 6 days ago

Good to be back home with my cellar🥰
The wine took a while to open up, but then it showed all the elegance of the Wendouree Shiraz and the muscular intensity of the allegedly oldest vines of Malbec in the world.
It is always something special to open this producer.
Definitely not a typical Australian wine; extremely good with food. I would say supportive with the meal. Long and reassuring.

Médium straw colour . This has some development on the nose with bruised apple , pear , blanched almonds , herbal touches and some chalky mineral character as well. On the palate , quite lean but fills out enough with chalky mineral notes , ripe apple , pear and lightly honied citrus and a lightly creamy mouthfeel , decent length finish with good balance and freshness . This is at end of peak now and won’t improve further , but is still showing well . Drink now. — 5 months ago

Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.

Fruity nose with black fruits, cedar, tobacco and chocolate notes.

Full-bodied with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry and very fruity on the palate with blackberries, black currants, plums, cooked cherries, spices, cedar, vanilla, leather, earth, chocolates, tobacco, coffee, cola, licorice and bitter herbs.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and cherries.

This 12 year old Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley is drinking deliciously now. Rich and extracted, and 'In your face' kind of wine.

Fruit forward and good right out of the bottle, but would have been even better after a couple of hours of airtime, but it finished way too quickly.

Showing nice complexity with a soft mouthfeel.

Will continue to age nicely in the next 5 to 7 years.

A great sipping wine that will pair nicely with a big piece of steak.

A blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc, 3% Petit Verdot and 2% Merlot. 924 cases produced.
