Areio e Vento e Amor Evangelho Vineyard Red Blend 2019

Fine light drinking red with an assortment of heirloom varietals you would see in a Sandlands release. Down the middle table red style with good acid but lighter in alcohol and tannins. — 2 years ago

Cured egg yolk yellow color. Super complex and ever changing taste. Lemon curd/almond on the nose. Preserved lemon into a salted brioche roll. Drank on the patio at Aja Mola in Palermo. — 4 years ago

This is a pretty cool take on non-sherry Palomino. It’s a little salty like fino but doesn’t have the flor notes obviously. — 5 years ago

Terre di Talamo

Vento Toscana IGT Vermentino 2024

Bacci – Terre di Talamo, Vento – Vermentino
Toscana IGT – Maremma, Italy 🇮🇹

Overview
A casual, coastal Vermentino from the Maremma, shaped by Mediterranean breezes and sun-lit hillsides near the Tyrrhenian Sea. This is a straightforward, easygoing expression focused on freshness and drinkability, delivering a zippy, approachable style that feels effortless and authentic to place.

Aromas & Flavors
Delicate white florals lead, followed by citrus blossom, ripe pear, and hints of tropical fruit—pineapple and a touch of mango. Clean and precise, with a subtle saline note that nods to its coastal origin.

Mouthfeel
Light- to medium-bodied with crisp acidity and a refreshing, linear palate. Clean, dry, and lively through the finish, inviting the next sip.

Food Pairings
Perfect with seafood pasta, grilled shrimp, calamari, crudo, summer salads, or light antipasti. Also a great companion to casual aperitivo moments.

Verdict
An easy, crowd-pleasing Vermentino that delivers exactly what it promises: freshness, balance, and pure coastal charm. Not complex by design, but simply delicious and highly drinkable.

Did You Know?
The Maremma is one of Tuscany’s prime areas for Vermentino, where maritime influence enhances aromatic lift and natural acidity.

🍷 Personal Pick Highlight
This is my kind of casual white, zippy, floral, and refreshing. A go-to Vermentino for relaxed meals and warm days, with just enough character to keep things interesting.

Coste al Vento Menfi Grillo

The extra skin contact on this is delightful and probably makes it more intense. I’m into it. Lots of ripened tropical fruit, mint and sage, green tea, medium acidity, but with a saline kick that brings it all together. — 3 years ago

Terre di Talamo

Vento Maremma Toscana IGT Vermentino

Terre di Talamo – Vento Vermentino 2024
Toscana IGT, Maremma – Italy 🇮🇹

Overview
Crafted from organically grown Vermentino, this white reflects the Tuscan coast’s maritime influence. The IGT classification allows the estate flexibility while still showcasing the grape’s tension and vibrancy from Maremma’s sun-drenched vineyards.

Aromas & Flavors
Enticing notes of white peach, broom flowers, and a saline iodine edge mix with ripe tropical fruit—mango and papaya. It feels Mediterranean to its core, with both floral charm and coastal freshness.

Mouthfeel
Vibrant and tense, marked by crisp acidity and a light, tingling texture that keeps it energetic. The finish is silky and elegant, with a mineral snap that invites another sip.

Food Pairing
Perfect alongside grilled shrimp, seafood pasta, or even a tomato-based fish stew. Its brightness also makes it an easy pairing for mozzarella-based salads.

Verdict
A lively Tuscan white that proves Vermentino shines under the IGT umbrella. Clean, crisp, and expressive, it’s both refreshing and distinctive—ideal for warm-weather sipping. Cheers!

Vento Forte Toscana IGT Vermentino 2019

Bright gold with coppery overtones. Unctuous nose of honey, dried apple., and clay! Palate is full and complex yielding layers of dried apple, white flowers, burnt marzipan, hay, and cinnamon bark. Acidity is firm from entry to finish. Finish is long and recalls the earthier earlier flavors. Wow. I may not think of Vermentino the same way. A complex, layered white with enough "stuff" to compliment a wide range of foods from seafood to poultry to (yes) lighter cuts of beef. Drink now through 2027. — 4 years ago

Foho Riserva Chianti Classico Sangiovese Blend 2012

This is my last bottle of this superb CCR. All sorts of secondary and tertiary scents found on. Gravel, sandstone, roasted herbs, almost a eucalyptus thing, iodine, macerated dark cherry, exotic spice market. Perfectly balanced in the mouth, with great acids and flavors that still seem youthful despite being 8 years old. Great stuff. — 6 years ago
