From San Guido estate, called Castiglioncello, Sassicaia, "the place of many stones". Blend of 85% Cab Sauv & 15% Cab Franc, deep Ruby with aromas of rich black fruits & complex spice aromas. On the palate ripe blackberry, cherry and sweet currants with flavors of cedar, vanilla spice, leather, bits of tar and cacao, a powerhouse. Had a bottle 6 mos ago. Blend of 95% Cab Sauv, 4% Merlot, rest Petit Verdot, Malbec & Cab Franc, blended then aged for 24 mos in 50% new & 50% once-used American oak. Deep Ruby, youthful aromas of black fruit, sweet cacao & complex spice. Palate shows flavors of rich ripe juicy berries & cherries, core of sweet fruit with oak & vanilla notes. Nicely integrated firm, graceful tannins, long finish, displays primary fruits on ending, just beginning to develop some secondary aging, approachable now. Excellent. — 6 years ago
Such an easy sipper! Citrus, acid, light bodied, herbal grassy finish. Good bang for your buck. My choice to wake up the palate before a tasting. Can’t go wrong with this Sauv. — 6 months ago
Not as good as the '21. This year offers 40% Merlot, 32% Cab Franc, 23% Cab Sauv and 5% Petite Verdot. IGT. Olive tamponade, a bit dusty and cedar opener. Full mouthfeel and very drinkable now, but this might benefit from a time out for a while. — 10 months ago
